Have you been to the doc's about it and if so what did he/she give you for it?
Doing my head in now have bad skin (spots)anyway but being PG just making it worse! Feed up going to MW tomorrow I might "kill two birds with one stone" and make an app with doc's if I can get treatment while PG!

i have had shocking skin this time around

have just put up with it tbh - assumed i wouldn't be prescribed anything powerful enough to make a difference while pg - but it's been bad

it's a bit better now (17wks) but still not great

you have my sympathies

Shocking skin here too - my eczema has really flared up around my nose, and I have a really spotty chin. Apparently chin spots are hormonal so not sure if regular spot zappers would work.

I've just put up with it as well, and have invested in some good cover up make-up.

My skin is vile too - both incredibly dry and very spotty at the same time . Can't imagine the GP can do much about it tbh. It will possibly improve as the pregnancy progresses but not guaranteed I'm afraid!

you really should try Liz Earle's Cleanse and Polish - is fabulous!

BabyMadwithBump · 12/02/2007 19:24

The things is I tried lots and lots of thing nothing and I mean nothing has worked not even alittle bit , I'll ask MW and she say weather the doc can help me or not! As the doc said she couldn't help me with MS but MW said they can, so she booked me an APP to she one of the doc's and he gave me some anit sicknes tabs!
I'm 15+3 weeks!

I was using a prescribed acne treatment before I got pregnant & spoke to the gp who checked several times that it was fine to continue using while I was pregnant (I now have a healthy 6 month old). It is called Duac once daily gel.

I would say I had moderately bad skin but it's a lot better although it takes a couple of months before you notice a difference it is worth trying it. Stuff that you can buy in shops just doesn't do anything I've found.

Blame Progesterone hormone overload.

I have had spotty chest and shoulders since day 1.
Creams, regular cleansing, exfoliating, detox,... nothing works!

Luckily I have been preg through the cold months so can keep covered up. I'm presuming it will disappear as instantly as it appeared once I have given birth, given that the hormone levels drop instantly too, and this is what's to blame for the spots!

Have to grin and bear.

Another pizza face here! Have had horrid skin since early days, kept waiting to glow, but at 33wks still look like a teenager. Also have spotty chest and back which i've never had before all made worse by chlorine from swimming pool annoyingly enough. I've been advised to just keep it really clean, but leave it be as much as poss- only wearing makeup when I really need to seems to help. Try making your hair look especially nice and glossy to detract from spots and remember that you notice them 100 times more than others do! Have been using evelom cleanser and(although not recommended on evelom box) i've also used a really mild boots own teatree sort of toner. It's called skin clear blackhead fighting cleanser. It's got no alcohol so quite gentle seems to prevent too many new spots appearing. I too am hoping that they will all miraculously vanish the moment I give birth and i'll float out of maternity unit with clear glowing skin. (I can dream, at least)

Mine is bad too. Was perfect when I was pregnant with ds1 but really spotty this time. I went to the Docs this week for a checkup and asked if there was anything she could give me for my skin. She said not really whilst I was pregnant, all creams etc have antibiotics in them so they prefer not to give them unless you are desperate.

I have found that Clinique foundation and concealer are brilliant and make it look alot better (though you can still see it abit)

You can buy Aloe Vera gel from health shops too which can make your skin look less red.

Annie75 · 05/03/2007 11:01

I can sympathise. I've broken out in teenage-like spots around my chin and neck, and some on my back too, which makes me relucant to go swimming as I feel doubly self-conscious. All a bit miserable when you're told you're meant to be 'glowing'. But I guess it's the surge in hormones which is causing it and some are more prone than others. I know the sun always helps whenever I used to get the odd break-out.

I had awful oily spotty skin when i was pregnanat and it just kept getting worse. I went to see my GP who prescribed me an topical antibiotic to apply on the skin, and she assured me that it was perfectly safe to use during pregnancy. It worked and my sskin cleared up.
