...they can't tell anyone about their pregnancy yet? dh and I have decided to wait until our first scan to tell the world in general (we've told our parents) I'm sooooo tired and feeling like poo all the time, and I can't have a good proper winge about it (apart from here, sorry to be burden!) Today on the tube in to work I was pushed around by three different people. Someone (very rightly) stood up for an obviously pregnant woman, and I had to strap hang all the while feeling like I was going to chuck.

Work is also really difficult, I'm in an awkward situation in which I've applied for a new job (an internal application within my company), and I'm still waiting to hear about that (I probably won't be able to take up the offer due to physical nature of the job, will have to defer hopefully!) but I feel horribly guilty not telling anyone about being pregnant. I really want the job, but I feel really bad that someone may lose out, and I'll get the job, only to have to put it on hold for a bit.

Sorry to winge on, but is anyone else feeling this tired/frustrated about early pregnancy and not being in a position to tell anyone?

'for an obviously pregnant woman'

but you can't tell anyone you are pregnant cos you are too early? >

or is it poppies just being dense again

but yes, I remember that. Having to dash out of rooms to throw up without being obvious is very difficult.

GillL · 12/02/2007 11:56

Hi MrsMar. I felt exactly the same. I was and am still feeling terrible all the time. Luckily I've had my scan last week and I can tell everyone at work but it was difficult keeping it to myself. It's so annoying that it's the worst you feel throughout the pregnancy but no one takes that into account because you don't look pregnant. I don't think even dh comprehends how bad I feel. It certainly doesn't get me out of doing anything round the house!

Hope the job situation gets sorted out and hope you feel better soon.

Indith · 12/02/2007 11:59

Oh I remember transport issues! Made me laugh as I was far better able to stand when very pg than early on when I had no bump but felt poo and weak and tired.

You rant away then go put your feet up with a hot chocolate.

MrsMar · 12/02/2007 12:03

Hi poppies, I meant to say there was an obviously pregnant woman on the tube this morning and somone stood up for her (rightly too!) but because I don't look pregnant, no one stood up, and I felt terrible! sorry if I confused. Too tired to make sense!

Hi Gill, I'm glad I'm not alone. I've got another four weeks til my first scan (i'm currently only 8+3 gone) dh is being great, but this weekend we went away and it totally exhuasted me. I felt really bad, because I had to have a sleep each afternoon. So much for a romantic break! I was snoozing most of the day!

ah I see!! sorry... poppies being dense again!! LOL

I used to consistently nibble on dry biscuits.... that was a bit of a give away too

MrsMar · 12/02/2007 12:05

Hi Indith... I felt terribly guilty for being so jealous of the pregnant woman, because she looked great too. Not that I know what she looks like normally, but she looked really healthy and happy, and there was me, green around the gills!

We used to go out a lot at the weekends but I've had to stay at home more as it's just so exhausting. I'm hoping that high energy stage is just round the corner. DH has been getting quite frustrated (if you know what I mean) cos I've just felt too tired and nauseous and just want to sleep when we go to bed. He's stopped bugging me quite so much. I just keep telling him it'll be over soon.

J20BABY · 12/02/2007 15:10

oh god i know exactly how you feel, i'm 6 weeks pg and i'm sooo tired and every smell makes me feel sick. i don't remember this with my dd, although it was 7 years ago. when do we bloom? when? when?

MrsMar · 12/02/2007 15:16

Oh my god, I'm sooo looking forward to the blooming bit!!! It's got to happen soon. It's terrible because everyone keeps telling me that m/s is such a good sign of a strong pregnancy, but boy does it make me feel bad. I don't even have the advantage of actually being sick and losing some weight, which lets face it I could do with losing! I'm dreaming of the days of thick shiny hair, great skin and no sickness!

JoAndTheBoys · 12/02/2007 15:25

I'm 5 weeks pg and we're waiting until I'm about 8 or 9 wks to tell anyone (going for an early scan and want to be sure everything is ok first)

It's doing my head in! Especially as it's a lot more dh's idea to wait, I'd be happy to tell our parents now!

The sickness is only just starting to kick in on the odd occasion (certain smells), and I'm so tired, I just want to be looked after and have peoples sympathies when I'm rough! Thankfully it's half term this week so I'm off work and can handle any nausea at home.

It's on my mind so much of the time as well that it's really hard not to talk about it with our parents, both the other times we told them as soon as we knew... I keep finding myself drifting off into my own little pregnancy world when they're talking about other stuff!

J20BABY · 12/02/2007 15:29

no more spots, no lank greasy hair, no feeling sick when i smell the baby's dad no falling asleep after having to trek downstairs in a morning after getting up oh roll on 2nd trimester!

Miaou · 12/02/2007 15:36

Oh I do sympathise MrsMar, I'm 17w pg now and just starting "look" pg (though it depends what I am wearing! I've told people from the word go that I was pg, but didn't really have a lot of choice because I was really sick and looked very ill (well I was!) for ages! Still being sick but feeling a lot better now.

Tbh I find the first trimester the hardest and need all the sympathy I can get at that point - can understand why you don't want to tell people though.

MrsMar · 12/02/2007 16:00

I'm just counting down the days to our first scan, 3 and a half weeks!!! Fingers crossed everything's fine then because I'll be broadcasting it to the world!! oh and standing funny on the tube, with my belly sticking out so no-one is in any doubt as to my condition!

J20BABY

I am like that too. I can't stand the smell of DH at the moment (especially during sickness phases) so I keep making him have lots of showers. He is not very happy about it.

As for the rest. The greasy hair is starting and I have a spot!!! which is unheard of.

I wish I could tell people (eight weeks), it really does make things easier but after two m/c the last one at 17 weeks I am not confident yet to tell people.

I love the fact that everyone at some point goes through the same things. It is very reassuring.

J20BABY · 12/02/2007 16:28

has anybody else got cramp type stomach ache? is it normal?

MrsMar · 12/02/2007 16:46

Hi J20, I've had everything from cramps to sharp pains, both sides. I've tried to put it to the back of my mind, because everywhere I've read has said that you have all sorts of wierd pains during the first few weeks, due to uterus expanding etc. Currently I have what feels like trapped wind on my right side, of course it could just be trapped wind (hmmm delightful!) but the dark side of my brain says "what if it's a miscarriage?" I'm ignoring that part of my brain as I have no other symptoms (no bleeding, no loss of pregnancy symptoms) and I've had funny pains on and off since I was 4 weeks pregnant, so I figured if it was a miscarriage, it would have happened.

OP posts:
MrsMar · 12/02/2007 16:48

Oh and I was paranoid about ectopic for the first 6 weeks. Don't know why I stopped worrying at 6 weeks, maybe the strain of worrying was too much! The only thing that kept that thought at bay was the fact that I'd had such strong implantation pains right smack bang in the centre of my womb area, iykwim!!

OP posts:
J20BABY · 12/02/2007 16:56

glad i'm not alone, its kind of in my back as well, so i think it may be a water infection, best book in with gp, only a 3 week wait!

MrsMar · 12/02/2007 17:07

I've had quite a lot of constipation and trapped wind so I'm guessing all my aches and pains are that. They're always in different places! I don't think my gp will see me now, I've been the typical hysterical 30 something first time mother, ringing up every day with every twinge to be analysed! I could hear his patience start to wear thin last time I spoke to him! hehe!

Don't feel that guilty though, what with average earnings of £100K a year, he can sit and listen to my frettings! ahahahahahaha!

J20BABY · 12/02/2007 17:58
