Just that really...

I've not thought too much about giving birth through pregnancy, up until now. Suddenly I'm feeling terrified Sad
I'm not really sure what I'm asking for in this post, but just feel a need to put it out there and see if anyone else is feeling the same??

I made three birth plans the first time around, looking at best case, possible and worst case scenario. I thought through the process for each one, so when the time came I was not panicked or scared - I already knew what I wanted. I ended up with an EMCS and a beautiful boy! Second time around; no birth plan. I knew the drugs I wanted, knew my body and knew even if we ended up with another crash section, I would cope.

Thankfully, we live in a first world country with gas and air provided and epidurals on request. The real challenge starts when you get the baby home!

Aw but you know you won't rally miss your bump because it won't have gone far. You'll just have a wriggly little squidge monster on the outside instead. Mine spends most of her waking hours strapped in a sling as close as she can get to being back inside!

WickerHearts Thank you, I hope so, too, hope he doesn't end up coming early! It's scary, thinking of labour, anything could happen, but it will be okay. How are you feeling now? Got my bag packed, now, so that's ticked off the list! Smile

Hypno birthing really helped me last time and also having a ball and being active in labour and lots of using the ball to sit on.

Hip rocking also helped a lot - more than I ever thought possible.

I did take the warm bath and this also helped.

I did take the paracetamol too and this took the edge off enough to remove any panic.

All in all take the options like the bath and the paracetamol and ask for a ball, try the hip rocking. All these things won't have any negative effect and may aid you to a birth without pain relief.

wickerhearts how are you lovely??? Do you remember chatting on the forum round about march time! I'm currently 34 weeks pregnant, waddling about like a duck, heartburn the lot! When are you due?? Totally can understand about labour I did my birth plan last week and I'm just like shit, it's getting so close now!! Xx

What helps me is realising how close babies head is to the outside world anyway. I google pictures and it reassures me because it suddenly looks easy! About 10cm? It's a really short journey from inside to outside. Plus I think about my lovely elastic vagina and how it's designed to let baby through.

Ah Chapman!!!
It's been ages, how are you??
I'm 39 weeks on Sunday!! Super scary, it has come round so quickly!!
Absolutely, I'm waddling now.
As much as I'm really nervous, I'd quite like it if she were to come soon, starting to feel quite uncomfortable now xx

chocolate I was thinking just that this week too! Baby is such a short distance from being actually out it cant possibly be that bad!

I was dreading it second time round after an awful first go. This time I asked for the epidural early and honestly I only endured about an hour of truly painful contractions. Once the epi was seated it was plain sailing. Baby was born and I was completely calm and pain free. Didn't even tear at all. Six hour labor in total. I highly recommend the epidural!

wicker I know i literally think it was round about when you found out you were up duffed! Oh wow so close now!! Fingers crossed he/she comes on time! It is really uncomfortable isn't it! Sleep what is that?
I'm due on 23rd December .. 6 weeks to go!!! Has the rest of pregnancy been ok for you? Xxx

I had my baby 3 weeks ago...I was torn between feeling terrified and thinking "he has to come out one way or another, no point worrying" GrinI ended up having incoordinate (and really bloody painful) contractions from lunchtime till 6am the next day, where I managed to progress from 1cm to 2cm Confused. I then demanded an epidural before having the drip to help me along, ending with an emergency c section with a general anaesthetic and missed him being born anyway. I always thought I was a total wimp but nothing was as bad as I thought it would be. I hate needles, I was scared of being examined, never had an op....and it was fine. Don't worry and go with the flow Smile
