Hi

I'm 15 weeks pregnant with DC2 and over the last week my pelvis has started feeling weak and uncomfortable, something seems to be clicking when I move too. I've been referred for physio but the waiting list is huge.

I had SPD during my first pregnancy that started at 20 weeks and it was hellish. Had physio during pregnancy and then for the following year. I had a traumatic labour (shoulder dystocia) which damaged my pelvis further.

My job is fairly physical and I plan on going on maternity leave as early as possible - but that's still a long way off.

Did any of you use the bump support bands? Any tips that might provide slight relief for SPD would be gratefully received! Smile

Hi,
I suffered a lot from this in my first pregnancy (waiting for it to start in my second!). The physio I saw wasn't much help, but after the birth, when my symptoms hadn't gone away, I saw an osteopath who was wonderful. He said I could have gone during pregnancy and my pelvis wouldn't have got into such a state (weight of baby had actually moved my pelvis into the wrong position). I would heartily recommend osteopath. See if you can find one who specialises in SPD though. Mine was recommended by a friend, but he was the second she'd tried.

I didn't use a bump support band but a pelvic one that went round my hips only. It was recommended by the NHS physio and they let me try theirs before I bought one myself. I still hurt but it meant the difference between walking or not as I had to use crutches to walk before the belt.

I found the physio useless last time too but am desperate, I'll definitely have a look around for an osteopath. Wouldn't have been something I'd have thought of.

I didn't realise you could get pelvic support bands that's great, I have no bump to speak of so was thinking a maternity support band was going to be pretty ineffective Grin I'd like to avoid crutches if possible so hopefully getting one of these might help me out a bit.

Thank you both!
