Can anyone suggest any baby names for a very poorly baby?

My baby is due in around 9 weeks and we have not decided on a name and other family members are now telling us we must call him this and that. Iv told them to back off this is OUR baby but they haven't.
When our little boy arrives he's going to be be very poorly so we need a strong name or a name with great meaning for a little fighter

I'm so sorry to both of you. Luca and archie are beautiful names. Flowers

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 30/10/2016 13:46

Huge love to both of you. Archie definitely sounds strong to me, as does Luca. Will be hoping for positive outcomes for you both. Flowers

I hope your boy will be doing well in the end. You should call him what you and DP want.

As you're taking suggestions I would like to say that Walter means ruler of the army.

Archie is a lovely name x

LifeIsGhoulish · 30/10/2016 16:33

There's a Jewish tradition to name a poorly baby Chaim for a boy or Eve for a girl, both of which mean 'life'.

Other good names, with similar symbolism:

Asher - joy, also Asher in the Bible was prophesied to have a good life.
Edmund - guardian
Guy - man
Vito/Vitali - life (Italian)
Jonathan - who was generous, brave and loyal
Gabby - shield, from Gabriel
Rafi - healer, from Rafael

Hope your LO pulls through. ((Hugs))

Archie is a good name. Makes me think of the keystone of an arch - ie strength and balance.

Blue2014 · 30/10/2016 20:38

Aidan means little fire - that sounds like a fighters name to me. Lots of love to you Flowers

I wish you and your baby the very best. My DS 1 was born with cyanotic heart defects. He is now a very tall, active, chatty lad of 7.

Matthew means gift from God although it is not my boy's name it feels like a good one for a special baby.

The NICU/PICU nurses are completely amazing. The surgeons can do extraordinary things.

I hope everything goes well for you and your little fighter.

How about Levi? Lev means lion in Russian so it's definitely strong. It must be so stressful for you Flowers

Bellabelloo · 31/10/2016 18:30

Oh Nikki, I can't even imagine how worrying and scary it is for you. I love the name Archie. Praying that he is OK. X

GplanAddict · 31/10/2016 18:34

Archie and Luca are great names. Flowers

TheLesserWeevil · 31/10/2016 22:27

How about Archer as a full name, with Archie as nn?

bookwormish · 31/10/2016 22:56

Just wanted to chip in and say to both Mums on this thread, you are both so brave Flowers Flowers and what beautiful names you've chosen for your strong baby boys. I hope that they both do very well once they arrive in the world.

Nikki - if you haven't found them already there are several children's heart charities out there, namely little hearts matter, childrens heart federation and heartline. Heartline have a history of having a fantastic, supportive forum for parents of children with chd, especially new parents.

Archie is a great name. I've only met one and he's a great man.
Are you having your son at Southampton ? Ocean Ward is great with heart kids. Good luck. Let people help you, you don't always have to stay strong.
MN will be thinking of you

SunnySideDownUp · 01/11/2016 09:14

Archie is a gorgeous name.

Sorry to hear you're in this situation. I'm expecting a baby in 3 weeks with major heart problems and it's tough isn't it. We've chosen a name (Eloise). It means healthy, so for ages I thought we couldn't use it but then actually we thought let's name her in hope.

Have you had a tour of the neonatal unit? And does your hospital offer cardiac antenatal sessions? I'm at St Thomas' and they offer them.

All the best for you and your baby Flowers

Purplehonesty · 01/11/2016 09:18

Ds is Archie so I love the name.

Nikki2ol6 · 01/11/2016 09:30

Hello. Yes we have had a tour of the cardiac intensive care unit. We can go again if we want too, but there are no sessions, what are those about? And yes it's very tough to deal with a diagnosis, everything was going perfect, we had early scans and those were great, our 12 week scan was great and our gender scan was great. But that Thursday afternoon of our 20week scan I will never forget, our world just fell apart. It's been 11 weeks and it's no easier to cope with. At first I didn't sleep at all for weeks. Now I do but I still wake up during the night thinking about it all. I am not enjoying my pregnancy at all anymore not know what the outcome will be. It's a very say situation to be in.
How are you feeling about it all? And that is a beautiful name
