Unexpected pregnancy at 44 - can I ask for cvs at 10 weeks?

Hi. I'm fairly horrified to find myself in this situation as we had stopped trying for dc3 4 years ago. Anyway, I'm 6 weeks pregnant and having had a late (16 week)miscarriage 4 years ago, I am very anxious to know where I stand with all the chromosomal testing. I've read that if I need a surgical termination for medical reasons it needs to be before 12 weeks. Last time my initial cvs result was clear and it was 2 weeks later that I found out there was a very rare problem. I've been booked for cvs for 11.5 weeks but worried it will take me over the 12 week mark if there is a problem like last time. I was wondering if anyone has had cvs as early as 10 weeks on request?

Would you be able to afford the Harmony test? It's non-invasive, so no risk of miscarriage (a simple blood test) which analyses fetal DNA. They are usually done at 10 weeks, and results take around 5 days to come back - sometimes a little longer, but would give you time.

Was about to suggest you look into harmony. They really don't like to do cvs before 11 weeks (it's very difficult).

Hello OP. I had a CVS one day shy of 11 weeks and then a surgical termination just bang on 12 weeks. I was fast tracked by BPAS to get the termination done as quickly as possible. Good luck.

Thanks for replies. I had read about harmony but I don't think it would pick up the rare trisomy I had last time so thought cvs might give the best answers. I wonder if they will let me see a specialist in next few weeks so I can decide which testing is best. It's weird as in previous pregnancies I would have always gone for safest least invasive test possible. But this time I want a definite answer. And I want it now!
