Getting a seat on train when pregnant?

Just interested in what other pregnant women commuting do about the seat situation? I commute on a small local train. No seats are usually available when I get on, but they become available about half way through the journey. Time on the train is about 20 mins. I also have a 25 min walk to get there, and 15 min walk at the other end. I don't really want to have to ask for a seat, but if I have to what do others find is the best way of doing that?

The London "Baby on Board" badges can be bought online (amazon £1.??) I'm the edge of London and work in the centre but I wear min everywhere as I'm barely showing and it makes people more understanding when I look like I'm dying! Had very bad sickness!

Casiopea - why not just tell them you're pregnant as well? Or get a baby on board badge if you're too shy.

This week was travelling with small child - OAP mother - 7 and half months pregnant with obvious big bump stood for 25 mins in aisle surrounded be young people in seats twiddling with I phones ! Local railways should have more obvious priority seats like buses for the cost of a ticket ! My only worry is fainting and would anyone help or just climb over me 😮

I always ask. Just smile and ask if they'd mind if you sat down. The only time I've ever had anyone say 'no' were tourists who presumably didn't know the convention.

Please ask! I do what PP's said and ask the person in the priority seat if they need it. I've never been refused. Had a couple of people obviously put out and grumpy about it, but I don't care tbh. My argument is that if the train suddenly stops and I go flying or I suddenly have a dizzy spell, they'll be far more inconvenienced when I pull the emergency stop handle and have to get medical assistance!

On the train home yesterday I was offered a seat but was ok to stand, sweetest guy insisted and essentially made me sit. Guy over the aisle ensured his bag stayed 'sitting' for the entire journey. If I had seen before I sat down I would have had him move it. The baby on board badge has been great as I have gotten bigger and slower for putting on my bag strap so it is behind me to let people know the reason I am going slowly, I get shunted a whole lot less now.
