Comfortable bras

Morning all,

I am about 8 weeks preggo and looking for a comfortable bra.

I am a 34G normally so as u can imagine I am not looking forward to those bad boys growing!! They are already feeling heavy and sore.

Any suggestions for a comfortable bra? Wired or non wired?

I went to Debenhams to be fitted and got a very comfy non-wired maternity one. It'seems not pretty but it does the job!

Freya make fantastic maternity bras in large sizes, but I'm not sure who stocks them. Maybe jump online and see?

Ooo I like Freya, didn't know they did maternity...i will have to pop into to town and have a nose in Debenhams.

Same here! I'm normally a 34H and get my bra's from Bravissimo in Covent Garden. I'm now 15 weeks and my boobs must be a J or more! I'm being very naughty and using a bra strap extender at the moment but need to go in the shop. I did buy the ugliest thing I have ever seen bra-wise from M&S as it was non wired but it's awful on big boobs so I'm going to go wire for as long as I can! Anyway my recommendation is Bravissimo though! Best of luck!

I think underwiring is fine as long as you have a good fit. I bought bras twice during pregnancy, having gone up 1-2 cup sizes each time. I suppose that means there were probably times when my bras were too small but it didn't cause me any problems.

The bravissimo I went too off Bond/Oxford St didn't stock Freya maternity.

I'm a 32 g and 16 weeks pregnant I went to bravissimo last week. I wish I'd been weeks ago. The lady fitting me checked the underwire around all my breast tissue. The bras I left with have made me so comfortable. Both satine.

I had a fitting today in Mothercare... 9 weeks today. And found their maternity bras soooo comfy!

John Lewis non-wired nursing bras. I'm a 34GG pre-pregnancy and had similar fears! Make sure you try them on. I did, then bought loads! Very comfortable and more supportive than you'd imagine.

I was a 30gg ish pre pregnancy and I haven't actually found I've needed to go up a size really- just been wearing the older bras with a bit more "give" in them and fastening on the looser hooks. My boobs felt bigger and heavier for a while but settled down, so I'd just hold off a bit before assuming you will need lots of new bras straight away- many women don't really grow til milk comes in after birth. And those of us who are...larger of bosom know that new bras don't come cheap!!

Am now 39 weeks and I've bought a couple of soft cup nursing bras - got them in bravissimo. They're both rather pretty as bras but I hate the shape I get from bras with no underwire. Ho hum, can't imagine I'll much care about that in reality.

I've gone for a non padded one from m&s although had to go and buy bigger ones today! I'm about a 32/34F when not pregnant... I cannot believe they are even bigger now and continually growing!!! Think I'll try Freya too!
