Can anyone recommend a good buggy to buy. It needs to fold up to fit in a small car, be suitable from birth and have somewhere to hang/put a small amount of shopping or change bag. Money is an issue too. I have looked at a few in the shops and just done know which is the best.

There's such a range out there isn't there. I found the staff at John Lewis really helpful when I was looking. The woman responsable for them spent ages with me, going over the pros & cons of the different ones. If you've got a branch nearby it would be worth giving them a go.

The Maclaren Techno XT is unbeatable.
Not the cheapest but will last till they're 4.

The Maclaren Techno is good in several respects - brilliantly easy to fold and store, well made, very nippy around town, lies flat, good hood (for sunshade and rain) and rain cover. Can hang loads of bags off the handles, though the basket is small and hard to access.

Not great for bumpy ground though, and is only forward facing, it can be nice to be able to see your LO. It's also not as padded and comfy as some heavier pushairs, but you can add a sheepskin to make it cosier.

Personally I'd consider looking at something like the Hauck Infinity (go to the Kiddicare site and search for 'Infinity' - they have some deals on at the mo which look pretty good value. Haven't seen one in the flesh but it's very versatile (forward and rear facing, robust rear tyres for bumpy ground) and a good price. You can also add a carrycot. Not sure about folded size etc so may not be suitable for your car.

If you can't decide then I'd also recommend buying one or two cheapo second hand ones off Ebay to see which type suits you best. Once you're sure you can always 'upgrade' to a newer one and re-sell the others!

Good luck!

Do not get a Mamas & Papas buggie - deffo not a Ziko - I am on 4th and it is tied together at the moment because I fear I may cause GBH if I have to take it back to the shop!!

new maclaren techno XLR is suitable upto 65lb/age6?? and(even though this idea isnt a favourite of mine) there is a car seat that you can use with it for a travel system. it comes with a liner, apron and raincover.

Thanks for the ideas. We had been looking at the Maclaren but werent sure, I think we will go for that now that it seems the best bet.
DP does a lot of running would like to get a three wheeler 2nd hand just to use for that so I guess we could use that for country walks when it doesnt need to fit in the car. Has anyone tried running with one?
