Maternity Pay!

Rollo1984 · 15/09/2016 16:12

Hello all,

I am currently in the process of baby making.. and also running a project at work to carry out bench marking of Maternity Pay. I am hoping to look at different policies out there to help support a change to pay over statutory maternity pay as we currently do. I am hoping some people might be able to help me out to support this.

I currently work for a Retail company in Yorkshire.

Any help / guidance on what your company offers is appreciated.

(And job left open for a year, so last 13 weeks unpaid, but I believe this is law rather than my organisation's policy. Child Care Vouchers paid, I kept car, laptop and phone - also law I understand).

This is all really useful thank you so much... yes ours is just SMP at the moment which isn't great.

Hopefully looking to increase to something a little more in line with industry.

Really appreciate all your input. Anyone in Retail would be great whether in Head Office or Store based. Or locally in North Yorkshire.

Cheers all.

@44PumpLane I know this is an old post but I am curious, which construction company did you work for? I am due to go on maternity leave in December and also work for a large construction company but sure our pay is just SMP all the way through...

@cjt10 I've pm'd you

My FTSE100 is 6 months full pay, 3 months SMP, and the rest unpaid

AHedgehogCanNeverBeBuggered · 03/05/2017 21:06

Civil Service: 6 months full pay, followed by 3 months SMP and 3 months unpaid.

ceej91 · 04/05/2017 18:02

Very large Multinational Construction Materials company - SMP only! So 90% for 6 weeks then £140.98 per week after that.

However the company's sick pay is 3 months full pay. Shocking really!

Glitterbaby17 · 05/05/2017 15:30

Charity and I get 21 weeks full pay, then Smp

BentleyBelly · 05/05/2017 15:49

University...26 weeks full pay, 13 weeks smp, 13 weeks unpaid. Have to have a permanent contract and worked there for at least a year and commit to staying in the job for 12 months after mat leave or you have to pay it all back plus NI contributions. If on a fixed term contract you have to have a long enough contract for continuous service 12 months after returning from mat leave. If you don't qualify for contractual mat pay you get smp.
