I am 39 weeks pregnant with second baby. I have been having twinges for weeks but no signs of the baby yet and I am fed up! I am drinking raspberry leaf tea, eating curries, going for walks...is there anything else I can try to bring this baby out?! Apart from sex - because my husband is so freaked out he won't try it! As another question how long did you get signs of labour before going into labour with your second baby? With my first I didn't get these twinges until the day I went into labour.

I'd forgot about the clary sage! I will try that tonight 😊

I put clary sage in my bath and have managed to convince my husband to have sex! Fingers crossed this all works!

Haha I'm 40 weeks tomoro with my second and I've been having 'signs' for 3 weeks! Frustrating isn't it?! I've resigned myself to the fact that I'm probably going to be like this for two more weeks now as googling and checking every twinge in the desperate hope it was labour was sending me crazy!!!
Having a sweep tomoro but won't hold my breath as I had two with my first and I was still induced! Good luck op!

My NCT teacher reckons the only thing out of these home remedies that has some evidence it has an effect is nipple stimulation.

Yes it is so frustrating!!! This hot weather isn't helping my patience either! I hope your sweep works this time and good luck with everything xx

I haven't tried nipple stimulation. Maybe I will give it a go?? x

I spent the day before ds2 was born gently bouncing on an exercise ball, not sure if it helped but worth a try! Good luck.

Try walking up and down the stairs sideways... If that makes sense!!!! I read on the internet that works, tried it with my first and was in labour within 2 hours, could be a total coincidence but anything is worth a try I suppose Smile

RLT helps tone the uterus to make for a smoother labour but does nothing to induce it. Sadly, labour will start when it's good and ready and apart from drugs or breaking your waters, no external stimulation can force it. A sweep can help start it but they don't always work. Nipple stimulation and sex can help release the hormone that tells the body to go into labour but again the body has to be ready to go into labour for it to happen. Sorry!

39+2 - I hear ya!

My midwife has told me nipple stimulation is the best thing. I've tried it 3 times now and each time it's instantly given me quite intense period pains and contractions / braxton hicks but within an hour they have died off completely Confused I've read that it's better for getting a stalled labour going rather than starting it off so I'm not sure if I'm just putting myself through pain unnecessarily, although it's obviously doing something!!
