5 weeks pregnant and pink blood (includes picture)

Hi guys,

I am around 5 weeks pregnant. Last week I had period type cramps but no bleeding, this stopped for a few days. Yesterday when I went to the toilet there was a tiny amount of blood on my knickers but there was some pink blood when I wiped, this went on every time when I went to the lot for around 8 hours. Nothing at all yesterday evening or last night. I have just been to the toilet and the blood is back! Is looks a bit more brown today. I haven't particularly had cramps, maybe a bit of aching. Has anything similar happened to anyone else?

I have a doctors appointment in a few hours to tell them about my pregnancy but will now mention this and see if I can get an early scan.

Any feedback or stories would be lovely! Thank you.

I have been trying for 5 years to get pregnant. And just found out 3 months ago I have PCOS and I was not ovulating. 2 weeks ago I tooked 5 pregnancy test at home and they were all positive I went to my doctor and they did a blood test and it was also positive. I had an ultrasound Thursday and they couldn’t see the sac I had another one yesterday and they were able to see the sac but no yolk or heart beat she said I am only 5 weeks so it’s too early I am having another ultrasound in 5 days though . But today Everytime I go pee and wipe I see light pink discharge sometimes its dark brown I am having no pain though. And I called the nurse and she said it was normal since I got a vaginal ultrasound yesterday but If it changes color or gets worse and with pain to go to the Er. I am really scared with my first daughter we tried for so many years and after 7 years I finally got pregnant I don’t remember having any bleeding with her but I did have her at 26 weeks. She’s 5 now and we had been trying since she was 5 months and I’m scared to have a miscarriage after trying for so many years. I am praying to God this is normal and not have a miscarriage. Also 3 years ago I found out I have a tumor on my right ovary I never went back to have it removed and my new doctor saw it last week when she did an ultrasound I had an MRI today to see what it is if it’s cancer or not and to see if I should have it removed before or after having the baby. Hopefully that doesn’t cause me to have a miscarriage

I’m spotting 4 days now @Raluca4 how did things turn out for you. Have anyone had continuous spotting? And all went okay?

@NanaG unfortunately I went on to miscarry however there are lots of positive outcomes on here. My advice would be speak to your GP and ask to be seen my the early pregnancy unit. Good luck xx

Hi NanaG! I had been spotting every day until 16 weeks. After that, everything was great and I had my baby at 38 weeks. I know it s really scary, but spotting is not always a bad sign. I really hope that everything will turn out the same for you. You have to stay positive. Hope to hear happy news from! Take care xx

@DMT1982 I’m so sorry. 🌹🌹🌹 and @Raluca4 I’m so happy to hear that. So sad how people with same symptoms can end up with different stories. You just never really know the outcome. I will stay positive and hope for the best ❤️❤️❤️

@NanaG I really hope you have a successful pregnancy and like @Raluca4 said she spotted until half way through and all was fine. When I called my GP they said wait a week and re test but two weeks on I had shooting pains so was referred to the EPU who confirmed I wasn’t pregnant anymore. I think a lot of GPS just leave you to it unless you have any pains but if you’re not happy ask to be referred and I went just during Covid so they are seeing people. They didn’t scan me though as I was then giving a negative test but if you show positive they will scan you xx

So I’m in the same boat, but I’ve noticed the dark pink with brown discharge before my pregnancy even started. I’m about 5 weeks now and the blood and brown stuff appears only when I whip and it’s every single time. It started weeks ago. I also had a pap today and my cervix was bleeding which freaked me out. The bleeding will not stop and the doctors are saying it’s pregnancy related, but I swear that This has been going on for some time. I also feel like I have a horrible UTI, but no signs of UTI in UA besides extreme amount of bacteria. I’ve had 1 miscarriage and a birth and I don’t remember bleeding every single time I whip for weeks. I’m terrified it’s something serious. 🥺

@Natsmomma28 I wish I could help you with some advice however I really can’t because my bleeding turned out to be a miscarriage BUT sounds like from what doctors are saying you have some bleeding in your cervix so they could account for the blood when you wipe. Re the UTI I have the feelings of UTIs a lot and there is never any bacteria and they never got to the bottom of it other than saying I must have a sensitive bladder! Xx

Hi, I know this was a while ago for you, but Iv had the same, small amount like yours pink, I’m 5 weeks but had the same just the once and nothing since. It’s not been 4 days since Iv had that and still nothing. I’m worrying but just wanted to check still all ok?
I also have no symptoms but I know that varies with anyone.

It’s still very early days for you and even if you called EPU I suspect they would say they would not scan you. What I was told was wait for another two weeks and do another pregnancy test. You maybe able to go for an internal private scan however I’m not sure how soon they can scan you. If you have pain then EPU will see you just in case it’s ectopic. Sorry I can’t be of more help xx

Hi I didn't get my periods this month and I felt some pregnancy symptoms but now I have bleeding which is in pink watery in colour and with some mild cramps....its been 4 years that I got bleeding...bleeding is not on pad its just when I wipe..i dont understand...I ask to my GP Doctor said that may be I'm in early pregnancy...she said to take a pregnancy test next week so I can get my answer that is it periods or something else...Can u plz tell me whats happened with me...I have some lower back pain..

@Qamarunnisa4 sorry to hear you’re having pink blood. I’m not an expert with early pregnancy however I was told the same to wait and see what happened after a week as too early for the early pregnancy unit to see anything on a scan. It’s a long wait to do another pregnancy test in a week but in my case after 3 positive tests and then having pink and brown blood when I wiped a week later they were negative xx

Hi, I'm currently 4 weeks and 4 days pregnant I experienced implantation bleeding on the 28th of march so I decided to take a test and got a nice BFP! We are overjoyed! I haven't been pregnant in 7 years so it all feels new to me again! For the past 3 days I have been experiencing light brown discharge a bit different to the photos you find on google (I'm not sure how to upload a photo) everytime I wipe, I also have tiny streaks on a pad which I decided to put on just to be sure, I have had the normal early pregnancy cramps back ache and sore boobs (which seem to be less sore today) I haven't had any appointments yet as I'm so early in, has anyone experienced this before and gone on to have a perfectly normal pregnancy? I'm terrified of miscarrying 😪

I’m 5+4 and I’m having the same spotting only when I wipe. I went to the ER yesterday and the Dr did a scan and saw baby on the ultrasound and saw no bleeding but today it’s doing it again. Should I be worried or go back to the ER?.

At this minute I’ve stopped spotting I have an ultrasound appointment Thursday so I’m trying to wait until then.

Hey guys I've had positive tests all last week and literally today too I had a positive. Now I went to the toilet and have a light bleed but nothing too sore, my boobs tho are sore and my nipples hurt plus the bottom of my back is where the pain is? I'm really worried 😢is this normal ? I had a chemical last month? So praying this is just implantation or a really light bleed. I know this picture is gross but your thoughts would really help me.

It’s awful when you bleed as you automatically think the worst. I know from my experience and others on here that it’s just a case of sitting and waiting. EPU don’t tend to scan you/take blood before 6 weeks and your GP tends to say just wait and see, cruel I know. It maybe different at your trust/GP though.

I’ve heard more positive stories from bleeding than negatives and used to think implantation bleeding was a myth but it’s not loads have it and people I know have. Also you can bleed for no reason.

There is no sugar coating it though you’ll be worried until you are able to either get a scan or get bloods taken. Wishing you the best of luck xx

Thank you so much for your help you have put my mind at ease for at least a second. But yes your right the gp will just tell me what you have said. Just have to sit and wait it out, it's not heavy or anything I don't even feel like I'm bleeding if that makes any sense. So I'm praying it just stays this way and trying to think positive. I was wondering also if you take another test while bleeding would this give the same result or change? X

@Lauren94laffertyx from memory my GP recommended re testing in 7 days time however that’s easier said than done so I think I tested after a few days then a week xx

I am exactly 5 weeks today and I experienced very light pink spotting last night and a bit this morning. I have my 8 week appointment mid December and I’m freaking out cause that is 3 weeks from now.. just wondering did you ever find out what was the reason for your spotting?

Hey what ended up being that bleeding I started today to see that kind of bleeding I am 5 weeks 4 days and I am FREAKING THE HELL OUT 😓
