Hi, I know it's been done before and all that but I was wondering if someone can provide me with a checklist with the stuff I need for both the hospital bag, labour bag and baby.
This will be my second baby (32 weeks) and I was extremely organised with the first by 32 weeks.
With this one I had NOTHING ready at all last week when I started having false alarm contractions. So I went out and got near enough everything but I don't feel 100% ready.
Just wondering what everyone else is doing (like how many newborn vests, sleepsuits etc...).
Thanks in advance!

I'm 35 weeks tomorrow
Haven't packed a bag or any of that but have purchased most of the essential kit

33 weeks tomorrow and this is my level of readiness:

We've bought everything except: expressing pump (gonna buy one in the possibly vain hope that dh will do some middle of night feeds), sterilising equipment, baby monitor, digital camera. I know the last isn't exactly essential but I want one!

Oh and scratch mitts. What are they please, I'd not heard of these before?

Haven't actually packed the bag yet, or even written a birth plan, but will do over next couple of days.

Finally finished the nursery at weekend and have moved our bed in there so we can be with lo for the first few months or so.

Emotionally? Well, I can't say that I'm totally ready, but I'm excited and happy about meeting him, and also tbh I'm bored with being pg now... seems to have been going on forever!

Oh... don't forget champers for the hospital bag (oh, okay then, Asda's own brand Cava)!!

Moss - Scratch mitts are little mittens your LO wears to stop them scratching themselves can ususally pick them up from your Mecca - Asda in a set with booties and little hat!

I'm heading towards 37 weeks, kinda have bag packed, most stuff bought and LO's stuff washed and ready to go.. but as far as nursery goes... we've got the most ofit, DH hasn't constructed it as yet!

Emotionally prepared? No way near!

Thanks Amie I will go and get some at weekend!

Are you going to wash the stuff you have bought from the shops?

AmieR · 05/02/2007 21:59

no probs Moss, and yes I will/have washed stuff I got from the shops!

I had scratch mits ready to use for both my dcs but didn't use them! Can't remember why now...I think they seemed like a good idea before the birth and then I just loved looking at their beautiful little hands once they were in the world and couldn't bring myself to covering them up...awwww!

I wasn't at all ready at 32 weeks with ds3
I had ds3 at 32 weeks! Dh had to run to shops and buy everything! Have to say he did really well!

For ds I had some sleep suits which had integral scratch mitts you could just fold over if you needed them, so didn't need seperate ones which in any case kept coming off. As it happens he never scratched himself anyway when they were off.

I also had some things which were like a cross between a babygro and a nightgown - the top half was like a babygro with arms in (and those integral mitts) but instead of having legs with poppers, the bottom part was just a tube, with an elasticated bottom. Much easier for nighttime changes - but I've not seen any around at all this time. How things change - it's only 5 years since I had ds, so not exactly (or at least not quite!) last century!
