Transverse Baby?

I am 32 weeks and think my baby is transverse. My bump is low, have a gap under my boobs and babys movements are either side of my bump (with DS he had feet lodged under my ribs as was heads down and DD was breech til quite late and she trampolined on my cervix).

I am pretty confident baby will turn before my EDD as i've still got plenty of time but IF s/he doesn't, what's the score with labour and delivery?

TIA

Hi

you cannot deliver a transverse baby vaginally..just not possible...also, there might be concern that because neither the head nor the bottom is engaged in the pelvis, if the waters break , the cord could come down before the baby's head /bottom, which is not a good situation......you might be brought in a bit early for a c.s ...

has your midwife discussed ECV with you? as you say there is time for baby to turn anyway ! fingers crossed !

I have had transverse lies with 2 babies and each time they have turned on their own - even at 39 weeks. Again I was told there was no way they could be delivered vaginally and would have to go to hospital as soon as labour started to have caesarian. There are tips for getting them to turn - cant remember exactly what but I seem to remember crawling about on all fours was one of them!

Turned my transverse dd by rolling on a birthing ball in front of the tv! Arms and head on ball, bum in the air - felt her 'go'. Very wierd sensation... Also told by MV to clean the skirting boards...

Cheers, thanks for all the info

I will start cleaning the skirting boards, probably about time!!!!

I'll ask my MW what she reckons at my next appt but I wanted to get my head round it. Am hoping for another homebirth but if it is not possible such is life Really do not want a c-section on third baby as have two others to look after and get cabin fever at best of times.
