MY NEW GP / local Clinic.....make my life miserable!!!!!

My new GP/local clinic makes my life miserable. I registered to them not long ago and i find out i got pregnancy (my first ). Of course, i went through the process of booking, form and etc. First the GP makes a silly mistake on my due date calculation and then put my due date as 2008 (24 months pregnancy) on the medical records ie prescription exemption form!!!

The GP did not even know whether the clinic has antenatal clinic services - but she has a 16 months old DD. I asked for the complication of my pregnancy.. she did not say much. I cannot believe she did not say anything about it!

I called the clinic today about the hospital bookings, again they directly me to the hospital - right! No booking or letter has been received from my GP, but the clinic insist they faxed it. I check the fax number which is wrong. Back and forth - 20 phone calls i have nothing come up about my bookings. Then i requested the clinic to resend but they refuse because the secretary is not around. Finally i show our my frustration and feel very fed up about their services. The reception from clinic said 'You have only registraed with us for a week and you are fed up with us!!!!' Actually i registered with them for more than 3 weeks and the experience gave me were so back. What they said on the booklet is not what they do in the practice. I feel hopeless and how can i go to this clinic again.

Now i have not got my first appointment with the hospital where i am nearly 10 weeks. what should i do?? help help help

For midwife, blood test and scan. Again the clinic said the hospital will take care of me during my pregnancy not the clinic!!

Yes it sounds frustrating but things like your notes take a while to transfer and don't we all put the wrong date on things sometime around New Year, it 's a simple mistake. Are they a new surgery (which may not yet ahve got its full range of services up and running yet)or are you just new to them ? btw an appointment before 10 weeks is actually quite early but can understand your impatience.

Some areas operate mw services from a surgery, others are hospital based . You could always contact the Primary Care Trust and see if your antenatal care(routine monthly MW appointments) could be done at another local clinic but scans are done at hospital anyway.

i wouldn't worry too much about it. We should be under high scrutiny after severe complications last time and it took a lot of convincing to get the new nurse at my gp's surgery to refer me to the fetal medecine unit...because the file wasn't up -to-date.

i called the hospital a week later and they still hadn't had anything.

Anyway, nothing really happens before 12 weeks where you have your scan and first screening so no rush there.

Can you go and pick up the letter and take it to the hospital yourself, it might just be the easiest thing to do. i know it's frustrating but that's nhs for us!

I am nearly 10 weeks and 35+ old age pregnancy on my first and i want to know whether the hospital can provide me the nuchal scan or not. If not i have to go to rivate to do it during the week 11-13. It is because i have a family medical history to have Down sydrome and Type II dietics in my paternal and maternal families. Again I am new to the clinic but the clinic has more than 20 years experiences and i recommended by the mouth of my neighbours. Thanks Liz i will try local primary trust for antenatal clinic.

you will defanately be offered at least an amnio, you could get a cvs right now. Have you tried NHS direct/ they're quite good? you shouldn;t have to go private, you can be referred to the nearest hospital very quickly.
