I am currently 34+1 pregnant with my second baby and have had a pretty straightforward pregnancy until now. I was having lots of reduced movements so I was referred for a growth scan on Monday 33+5 from which they have detected baby isn't growing and has called below the 10th centile and they have referred me to see a specialist under the fetal medicine team.

I am obviously extremely worried that something is wrong with they baby ie birth defect or chromosomal problem as the scan shown placenta was fine also the liquor volume was ok so they are unsure why baby is on the small side. He has been well within average growth up until now.

History- 12wk scan ok (no nt test as couldn't get measurements), 16wk gender scan ok, 20wk scan ok, 29wk 4d scan normal and within range on growth chart.
I had a little girl 2011 who was born at 38wks 6lbs oz, I am 5ft4 and oh is 6ft 3 so wasn't expecting him to be small.

Has anyone had any experience with this please xx

Hi I am 34+1 weeks now I went to a growth scan yesterday followed by clinic as I'm high dependcy with me having epiepsy (had no fits since I was 7+4 weeks ) scan and baby is fine the fluid is fine and blood flow is fine when I went to clinic they done water sample and it came back high protein they retested it again same result came back after I was sent home my blood pressure was normal this morning I had a phone call asking me to go back to hospital as they got the second sample saying high protein in urine as I got there they checked baby's heart rate and asked me to click some button whenever baby kicks which was all good they took so bloods and they came back normal did another urine test and came back 1 percent of protein in urine waited for doctor and she has made me an appointment for fetal medicine scan on Monday now I'm extremely worried as they said this could be the start of preeclampsia with the high protein in my urine but blood pressure again is normal this is my first baby and I'm extremely worried as I have also been told my baby not weighing much she currently weighs 3lb 7 but she was 3lb 2 last week so she has put 5oz on in a week but the consultants don't seem happly as they exoect pounds.
Just a few questions am I worrying too much?
Is 5oz good for baby in a week and what should I exoect at fetal scan I suffer with anxiety and am worried about the situation can any one help please

What a lot of things to worry about for you. I am so sorry that you are feeling so anxious.
From what you describe I think you have actually had very thorough checking, so that is very good news. We are always thinking about pre-eclampsia and many people with protein in their urine are fine & nothing happens, but we have to keep checking to make sure that we do the best for you & baby.
The scan “weight” is only ever an estimate and the accuracy is often pretty rubbish. The reason for having a fetal medicine scan is so that a real expert can assess you, baby’s growth pattern and the blood flow. All these things are important to help us pick out the few babies who would be better off being delivered a bit early.
I expect they will advise frequent urine & blood pressure checks and CTG monitoring of baby (the movement button machine) . The fetal medicine consultant will tell you what they think the best plan will be on Monday.
All in all, it is much better that a possible issue has been picked up & is being followed up, so please try to believe that you are in good hands.
