Already, at about 12 weeks pregnant. Have been having problems for a few weeks.

I've had severe nausea and been completely off most veg which I'm sure hasn't helped.

I am wary of having an extreme reaction so please can anyone recommend a gentle solution, or foods that might help? Thanks.

A friend just introduced me to linseed, also known as flax. You soak it in water or orange juice overnight, and then sprinkle a few teaspoons on your cereal. Gentle magic!

Thanks both. I feel I will need to have something I can eat/take daily to keep things moving along. I currently look about 6 months pregnant and am really uncomfortable. I suffered in my first pregnancy, but only in the last few weeks.

Does the linseed taste of anything? Is it actual seeds? (my horse used to have linseed but it was in a ground form and didn't need soaking.......)

As much water as you can drink! I. Ate a couple of dates daily and mixed powered flaxseed (from aldi or Holland and Barrett) into my porridge or smoothies when I could manage to eat it.

Bran flakes with sultanas and ground linseed/flax seeds each and every morning!

I was having the same issue and this has sorted me right out! (But you have to grind the seed or it doesn't do anything)

EreniTheFrog · 25/08/2016 13:17

I've been eating them un-ground. It seems to be working for me!

You can get lactulose as well from gp/pharmacy which is very gentle but effective

Sparrowlegs248 · 25/08/2016 13:56

Branflakes!! Of course! These were my failsafe after my c section last year but had forgotten all about them. Thanks!

I'm having exactly this! 10 weeks. Look 38 weeks. No proper poos for ages. I'm trying fruit fruit fruit. Orange juice with bits in has been recommended. I will wait and see. Good tips here though! X

Branflakes every morning for breakfast and lots of water.

Louisa111 · 25/08/2016 21:11

A spoonful of lactolose before bed always works for me x

MrsMKJ · 25/08/2016 21:27

Hi there, my GP gave me lactulose solution. I take it at night if I'm having trouble and it works wonders the next day!! It's very sweet but well worth it. I swear by it! In my early days (currently 33weeks) I took it every few days but now I only need it every now and again. Hope this helps!
Ps... Make sure you're drinking enough water too! Smile

I've had IBS for years with this symptom. It's come back in early pregnancy.

I've found hot lemon with water is good for getting things moving.

hope it gets sorted soon!
