Thought this might be interesting and could give each other some tips. Here are mine:

Best
bread
water biscuits
mini milks
tinned fruit salad
smoked salmon and cream cheese bagals
mashed potatoes

Worst
Lamb (usually my favourite)
anything spicy
orange squash
opal fruits (for the burning on the way back up sorry if TMI)

Ediemcredie. I went and saw the doctor with it. The midwives were rubbish!! I ended up being taken to casualty by ambulance. If you are getting very dehydrated (which I was because I was being sick about every 15-30 minutes.) then you need to check with your Doctor and get him to do a urine sample to see what your liver function is like.

They ended up putting me on a drip and giving me medication. It was the only thing that worked in the end.

Oh im not being that sick ATM, on an average day im sick around 5 times and its quite violent. Sometimes I even vomit water. Think it's just a concern if it lasts for months on end.

Best were iced doughnuts as they tasted OK on the way up as well as on the way down.

Worst were baked beans as they stuck in your throat on the way up.

I'm anopther HG survivor, I also used to work on a support line for Mums with HG (the charity folded but the website blooming awful is easy to find if you search that, and has fab tips)

personally and from the women I spoke to on the line, I wuld skip bread, anything heavy , and fried foods. But it REALLY depends on the individual. The best foods for severe sickness are:

A) anything you can tolerate

B) Anything that tastes OK coming back (well realism LOL)- ornages and chocolate cake

C) anything with a high fluid content,a s many people struggle with fluids. Lettuce, melon, cucumber, ice pops, plain ice, are all good.

The thinkg is not to focus on getting a basic nutritional intake- you can't so that's theat. Its to focus on keeping yoursel;f off a drip, and therefore hydrated. The baby won't suffer, your body will feed the baby before you.

As for the sleep- proven link between exhaustion and sickness / nausea iirc

Oh and if you get the excessive salivation sucking a lemnon slice can help some people

Edie, my GP taught my Dh to smell my breath for acetone (like almonds). If he smelled that, I ahd to see a MW / GP immediately for dehydration. Might be worth mentioning to your DH- 5 times a day and not tolerating fluids could cause dehydration faster than you think.

Oh and apparently flat coke helps.

I'm afraid just reading this makes me feel sick - everything makes me reach at the moment LOL!!!!

I don't know if I'm a bit old fashioned but I just keep a packet of Rich Tea biscuits close by in the mornings. Only thing is, I get sick again in the evenings!!! The heartburn is the worst thing for me... any tips on what to do with that apart from drinking milk or eating Rennie's?

Handbag full of sweets at any given time, toffees are best.
Fizzy drinks with proper sugar not sweetener eg 7up.
Helps keep that awful sudden hunger-nausea at bay.
Big glass of water to throw up first thing, then a glass of hijuice squash (again, check labels to avoid sweeteners), throw that up then attempt solids .
Sympathies for you all, I'm reading this thread because I'm broody and DH won't play along so need to remind myself of the true horrors of pregnancy .
