I am 14 weeks pg and I am not sure whether my partners mother is interested in this, dont know whether its how some people are, but since I have found out my family have been over the moon by bf's family havent said anything really. Any ideas??
pg came out of blue, bf didnt take to it too well but it is slowly working, i just dont feel like I they are really that interested in this as my side are??

any one out there been through the same or is it a natural thing

maybe they have concerns about your relationship if your dp "didn't take it too well"? or maybe she's trying not to be an interfering MIL! its early days - plenty of time for her to get into granny mode.

Put it this way, if your boyfriend was surprised, how much more of a shock would it have been for his parents?!

Give them time to come round and don't rub their (or bf's) face in the fact that your folks are taking it so well.
Out of interest, they're not secretly a) cross you're not married, b) worried you'll run off with all his money or c) run off with someone else and sting their son for maintenance are they? If they are any of the above then they may need a lot of reassurance about your and bf's relationship.

Once you have an adorable grandchild to wave at them PIL tend to get interested pretty sharpish .

Some people are just more reserved than others. My parents have been wildly ott about dd1 (she's the 1st gc) but my pil are much more buttoned up (plus she's their 3rd gc) they've been very low key through both pg's (expecting dd2 in a few weeks). They do love dd but are just not demonstrative people.

Thanks!!
yes it has been hard for me and bf, he is british but grand parents indian, but its not a cultral or religion thing here!!

me and bf split up, he was totally stressed, then we sorted things out after alot of discussion, the pg was a shock but not too much, we knew it would happen one day but not too soon. his parents are very tradiitonal in marriage (but arent they all). we get on and she is a lovely person and reassured me time will tell with ne abd her son being together, and for me not to stress. bf had to explain the scan picture to her, which made me smile, but had so much stress with bf previously I dont want to be a witch and turn against family for lack of support!!!?????

Hello,
Can't help really, but involving the in-laws with the scan pics etc would always make them connect to the baby more... I had the same situation, but for different reasons - it was the first grandchild on my side, so my parents went mental with pride, but it's the 6th on DH's side, so they were really not too concerned. Obv they now love DS to bits, but still, he is one of 3 babies running around the family house, so he just doesn't get spoilt in the same way. Also have you considered naming the baby after one of BFs family? You can use it as a middle name which doesn't get used that much but is still a nice inclusive touch? Just a thought.

Sounds like you're doing all the right things and that your relationship with them is pretty good (believe me, I hear some horror stories - I'm a life coach working with mums and pregnant women!). If it's their first grandchild, they may be still getting their heads round the idea of being grandparents at all. Also, some people, especially in the older generation, feel the need to be very cautious until the pregnancy has progressed a bit further - a bit of superstition combined with natural caution.
I should keep doing whatever you're doing, and as MrsBadger said, a beautiful baby is bound to bring them round.
Good luck!

my PIL instructed me to have a termination, when I refused, they never spoke of the pregnancy again. Til LO was born - now they pretend to be the best GP in the world. Its boring really.

Give it time, they might pay interest, but dont lose sleep about it, i would prefer less interest.
