I wasn't able to find out the sex of my second baby (now 32 weeks pg), and don't get me wrong, whatever the sex is, I will be delighted to hold my little bundle, and the most important thing is that he or she is perfectly well and healthy.
So I don't want to sound ungrateful.
However I find that in the shops there is not much choice for clothes if you're not looking for pink or blue.
I don't know where to look.

A nice place for children's clothes in bright colours is Pumpkin Patch. H&M sell baby clothes in a range of colours as well.

try steering away from the main ones - Mothercare etc and look in independent baby shops or children's clothes shops. they might be a bit more expensive though.

Don't you have clothes left over from your first one? Or could you just use the babygros etc that you do have and wait until the baby's born and then buy some coloured ones (or wait for other epople to buy them for you? )

Well funnily enough I couldn't find any of the "neutral" sleep suits or vests in a newborn size, anywhere in my loft.
Perhaps I gave them away, thinking that I would be able to find out the sex for the next one anyway.
I hadn't tried H&M but I also thought of looking in La Redoute, you know that french catalogue!

havent you already got stuff?

it wont do it any harm to wear pink or blue for a week if it is not the right sex

Mumpbump · 30/01/2007 11:08

Ds wears mainly brown and he has a few yellow things which I fully intend to use to dress the next baby, girl or boy. Tesco's are quite good for baby stuff and I think you'd probably find some neutrally coloured stuff there.

True. In fact it would be quite cute!!
I've changed my mind about La Redoute as the french tend to have the press stud fastening at the back which is a real pain.
Thank you for your replies by the way.

they're going to grow out of their newborn suits in about six minutes

get a couple of white ones and then wait

Enid · 30/01/2007 11:16

tescos have packs of white sleepsuits

all they need really for first cuople of weeks

Bodkin · 30/01/2007 11:43

I agree - wait til it's born. They are so tiny and perfect at first, you'll only want to put him/her in a pristine white babygro for the first couple of weeks anyway! Then you can go for a little spree together - will be a nice first outing.
