Anyone had 2 sections close together ?

Hi, hoping someone may have been in this situation (but doubtful!)

Ok, firstly let me explain. I haven't gone stupidly against my Drs advice. I have 2 children. Both IVF babies after 10 years of infertility & 4 rounds of fertility treatment. My 3 month old was born via emergency cesarean after I failed to dilate. For an unknown reason he was born with blood poisoning & we very nearly lost him.

Anyway our family was complete. However by some kind of miracle I now find myself 5 & a half weeks pregnant. As if that wasn't shock enough, a very early scan (I have scarred tubes so they wanted to check it's not ectopic) it's looking highly like twins. There is a question mark over the smaller sac but time will tell.

I was scared of even having a singleton so soon in terms of medical reasons (uterine rupture) as even though I don't think I would attempt a VBAC so soon (there would be only 11 months in between my sections), I would be worried about even a spontaneous rupture in pregnancy. I know it's rare but I'm not sure it would be that rare considering it could be twins, 3 months post section?

I've got everything I've ever prayed for at exactly the wrong time...

Any advice welcome.

If you are worried, ask for a c section .
I asked on my second one due to complications on my first and the doctors were fine with this.

Thanks both of you for your replies. Would definitely opt for another section as so close together. I suffered a massive haemorrage with my EMCS in April, so I'm just so nervous of everything. However I'm hoping a planned one will go better.

Has anyone got any insight into a random rupture during the pregnancy anyway due to such a recent cesarean ? Can't seem to find much online. Must also add that I am seeing a specialist tomorrow but just wanted any experiences from people X

I had 2 sections 14 months apart, then a three year pause, and then two more sections with a 20 month gap.

No issues at all!

(I was told that I could not carry/deliver any more babies though, so I was steralised during the last one. Which I never thought I would do, but have found it to be wildly liberating!)

And in response to your last comment, I have never heard of that. But that was the reason I was told that I had to have subsequent sections (the first one was an emergency).

The way I understood it, each time, the scarring causes the wall to become thinner. I was put on bedrest for the last 6 weeks of my last pregnancy, just in case. But, as I said earlier, everything was fine.

Thank you Ketchup ! Did you get a lot of pain in the scar as you grew bigger ? I also tend to have quite big babies (both have been 7lbs 1 at 36 weeks) due to diabetes. I feel like I have every complication going which makes me so nervous X

Congratulations! Although my 'babies' are now 18 and 19 both were born by section-13 months apart! DD was an emergency, her brother just over a year later was planned. The 2nd was worse in that I knew what to expect and I think the scar is bigger (lost under fat now lol) but I wasn't aware of it hurting in any way during the second pregnancy.

Oh and even though they were both born 37 and 38 weeks both were nearly 8lbs (so thank god they were lol!)

I had a section 4 months ago after a complicated pregnancy. Because of complications I ended up having a following up meeting with my lovely consultant 8 weeks after giving birth and I specifically asked her what advice there was in terms of getting pregnant after a section (not sure why I asked this, but my sis and I are 11 months apart so perhaps that was in back of my mind). Anywho she advised that regardless of official recommendation the path of treatment does not deviate if a woman gets pregnant sooner. This doctor is a twins consultant as I was expecting twins (though one died late in pregnancy, long story) so if that was a particular issue I think she would have mentioned it. I guess you really can only wait what your doctor says but don't worry too much, these things happen. Congrats

Thanks so much Aus26 & Lolimax. That has really eased my mind a bit. I will see what the specialist says tomorrow & then hopefully around Thursday time (6 weeks) find out if there is 2 in there or just the 1! X
