What are your thoughts on non-alcoholic prosecco ladies?

Hello mummies to be!

I am thinking of launching a non alcoholic Prosecco in the uk.
Most big shops ( M&S, sainsburys, tescos etc.) offer a sparkling wine but they often taste very sweet and of poor quality.

Based on the idea that this drink would taste like real Prosecco- would you like to have some in your fridge during your pregnancies- Is it something you would enjoy?

Thank you very much for your opinions !

I'd just have a glass of prosecco tbh. Once in a while I think it's fine in pregnancy. I know many won't agree.
If I wanted something non-alcoholic I'd just have a soft drink.

I like non-alcoholic beer and IMO there's a fair few which are drinkable and some which are properly nice. If I'm not drinking for whatever reason I'd far rather drink an Erdinger 0.0% or even Becks Blue than endless OJs and diet Cokes. But I've never tried a non-alcoholic wine of which I could finish an entire glass - they're all totally vile. So go on OP, give it a go and then come back to MN to organise a product test: I'm in.

Please do! Get the taste right and I'll throw my money at you. If you could branch out into a beautiful dry sauvignon too, that'd be marvellous.

A marketing tip. Not all pregnant women like the phrase "mummy to be" Wink I hate it almost as much as the phrase "hubby to be"!

I drink non-alcoholic beer when I'm pregnant/BF as I prefer it to fizzy or fruit soft drinks, which I find too sweet and don't like the furry tooth feeling. Nothing is nicer on a hot day than a cold beer! Not enough pubs/restaurants stock it in my experience.
There are plenty of non-alcohol sparkling wine type drinks out there, but prosecco is quite fashionable so might be a market for it for baby showers or something. I can't imagine anyone would buy just for themselves to drink at home. There is a point in polishing off a bottle of the alcoholic stuff by yourself, but I can't imagine anyone would want to drink a whole bottle of non-alcoholic stuff by themselfs, especially when pregnant, and goes flat if don't finish it....

I'm sure I bought non alcoholic prosecco when pregnant? Can't remember where from, maybe sainsburys or M and S.

Anyway, it tasted nothing like prosecco and I didn't finish the bottle. But if you could make one that actually tasted like prosecco then yes I would definitely buy it. Personally I love the taste!

Even pregnant I'd rather drink a very small glass of the real thing. Or a proper non-alcoholic drink.

Hi. I have done a lot of wine exams and work in the industry and it isn't possible to do this. Legislation means that to call it Prosecco it has to have a certain ABV. There also aren't enough Prosecco grapes grown to cope with current demand so suppliers wouldn't waste their grapes taking the alcohol out. All the supermarkets have looked at making it already. There are some fizzy grape juices already but there isn't really the demand for it. Hope this helps and sorry it sounds negative.
