How many braxton hicks per hour are classed as normal at 32 weeks?

Please anyone?
I'm quite worried as I had quite painful ones (after sex ) last night for about 3 hours, and regular as well, every 10 minutes or so. I convinced myself i was in labour, and got really scared. This is my 2nd pregnancy and have been getting bh from about 17 weeks but not painful.
Today I'm getting about 1 every hour, but not painful (wouldn't notice them if I wasn't monitoring them).
What's going on?
I will mention it to midwife if it happens again, but I was wondering if anyone could help in the meantime.
Thank you.
I'm never gonna have sex again during this pregnancy if that's what triggered it.

hi.i am 33+4 with baby no.5.the bh's get stronger with each pregnancy, and sex can trigger them as semen contains prostaglandins(sp?)so i believe.

i hardly noticed any bh's in my first preg, but from 34 weeks with my 2nd i was convinced i was going into labour on several occasions.

i didnt know this untill yesterday, but the position of the baby in the womb can also affect how strong your bh's are.i was reading up on the LOP position and one site said you may experience long, painful bh's as the baby tries to get into the right position.

Really? Wow interesting (and reassuring).
Tbh that's exactly what it felt like, that the baby was trying to shift or something as I could feel limbs in awkward places. In fact I couldn't decide wether it was pains caused by the baby's movements or actual BHs.
I now know they were strong and longer bhs as my tummy went rock hard each time.
Today it seems to have gone back to normal, I still got some but about one an hour (or less, or more depending on the time of the day and if I'd been straining or if my bladder was full), and not painful just uncomfortable.
Anyway thank you for your reply.
Good luck with baby number 5!

Hi

I am 33 weeks and been having frequent Braxton Hicks for about 2 weeks now - sometimes every 5 minutes but other times hours apart. Most are in the evening and first thing in the morning. MW says it is fine and probably caused by the baby turning head down. Drinking loads of water and lying down on my left side seems to help and they eventually ease off. Some are stronger than others but I have learnt to try and ignore them - though if they become painful or other symptoms appeared I would head straight back to the docs!
