Does anyone know if you can have an amniocentesis if you have Strep B infection? Are the risks to the baby higher if you have Strep B?

sorry dont know the answer just bumping for you..

I dont really think it will make a difference having an amnio (obviously other than the usual risks with one) as isnt the strep b infection in your fanjo!!!

Thank you. That's what I thought, in the fanjo! But someone I know has apparently been told having Strep B means an amnio would be fatal to the foetus.

Does anyone else know about this?

not that i have heard of. do you need an amnio as they have risks in themselves. i have strep B and will have to have antibiotics during labour. even got a warning sticker on my notes! strep b is like twoplus said in your vagina so i cannot imagine it getting to the uterus via amnio.

Thank you, it's not for me. For someone who has had an NT scan (I think) and has a high risk of DS. They have all the Strep B warning stickers etc but also been told cannot have an amnio because of it. Thanks for your help
