Pain in left hand buttock / lower back

For past couple days I've had this terrible twinge of pain when I walk or generally move about. It's kind of like in my lower back on the left hand side, radiating down into my bum!

It's really uncomfortable and painful to walk and it's been throbbing a bit even when I'm sitting still.

Does anyone know of this could be pelvic girdle disorder? Or sciatica?

I don't know whether to book a docs appointment as if it's either of the above surely there's not much they can do?

Sounds like sciatica. They can give you physio exercises to do if it is.

Def sounds like sciatica - worth asking for an appointment as you want to do all you can now while it's a niggle to help reduce it becoming a big pain :)

I have it too but mine is in my right butt cheek, never the left!
The only way I can describe it, is it's as if the bones at the back of my pelvis hurt Confused it's really bizzarre!

I have this too! Chiropractor hasn't diagnosed sciatica but has said it's not SPD. I'm having treatment for it at the moment - apparently my right back pelvic joint is 'seized' and right buttock muscle is so tight I almost cried when having it massaged!

Just FYI, my midwife (18w pregnant here) was pretty unhelpful on this... she said it was too early to refer me to a physio via NHS so I just went to a private chiropractor after reading some great results for similar problems.

I had this. Osteopath sorted it out in 2 sessions. He also showed me an exercise: lie on your back and put your fist under the painful buttock. Move it around till you feel a painful pressure point. Then wriggle your bum around till the pain dulls. Move your fist then repeat. You can use a tennis ball instead. It really helps keep on top of the pain.
