I will not have one obviously because I'm not allowed, I'd never want to harm my baby. I am 10 weeks today! Yesterday I saw a poster of a runny egg and bacon sandwich and I really could have fucking eaten one ,I love runny eggs!

To top it all off morning sickness wasn't great yesterday haven't had any signs of it up until yesterday so barely ate anything as anything I ate just made me feel worse!
Anyone else want something to eat that they can't have? Flowers

No, itsatime the guidelines don't advise eating runny eggs, but does also state that 'Salmonella food poisoning is unlikely to harm your baby, but it can give you a severe bout of diarrhoea and vomiting.' - direct quote.

It's all about risk management, and what you are comfortable with. If you're not, that's fine - but the NHS food guidelines aren't law, and salmonella poisoning in the UK is very uncommon. You're not more likely to get salmonella because you're pregnant, that risk remains the same. The NHS always overplays risks because then they can't be accused of not informing people.

It says in the Boots parenting magazine that the FSA are going to review the advice on runny eggs later this year, since salmonella has pretty much been eradicated in Lion stamped eggs

I ate runny eggs most days (hyperemesis wasn't triggered by eggs Hmm) and everything was fine but if you will worry it's not worth it!

It really is ok to have runny eggs in the UK so just have one if you'd really enjoy it.

Honestly you can eat them, they just changed the guidance so online won't be up to date. My midwife told me explicitly so just ask yours

The NHS website is very out of date and some info on there is not current.

I've downloaded the book by Emily Oster 'expecting better' which is often recommended on here. I've found it really helpful about this sort of thing.

The very thought of runny eggs makes me gag at the moment though so I will now be leaving the thread Grin good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!

The NHS guidance literally DOES say it's okay?

Taken from the NHS link posted by isittimeforarainbow :
What you can eat
raw, partially cooked and fully cooked British Lion hen eggs (they have a lion stamp on them) and hen eggs produced under the Laid in Britain scheme
