Clearblue test not increasing number of weeks

I did a clearblue test 2 days after my af was due and it came up positive and 1-2 weeks. I have done another 10 days later and by my calculation i should be 5 weeks 2 days and but test i did this morning still only says 1-2 weeks. Has anyone had this happen?

That does seem a bit strange, maybe the est was faulty?

Have you tried on another normal test to see if line has got darker?

gamerchick · 12/06/2016 14:40

Or maybe stop testing completely?

I really wish those digi tests were not invented.

Chickun · 12/06/2016 14:41

Did 2 tests and they both said 1-2 weeks :-(

If you wanted to compare lines then the top one on here was when the clear blue digital told me 1-2 weeks, and the second one was when I was getting 2-3 weeks.

Stop testing. Please. No good will come of it. It will only make you increasingly anxious.

Chickun · 12/06/2016 15:22

I will try :-)

Sorry but I don't agree with the stop testing business, slowly rising hormones can be a sign of an ectopic pregnancy, which can be incredibly dangerous. If your hormone levels aren't increasing then it is something that needs to be looked at by a doctor.

I'm not saying the tests are always right, or there is always an issue, but surely it's better to be more informed.

Desmondo2016 · 12/06/2016 16:03

I got 1-2 weeks 10 days apart ( at 4.5 and 6 weeks )then a week later I got 3+. X

Chickun · 12/06/2016 16:05

Awww thanks desmondo. Good to hear a positive outcome :-)

Ellie - the clear blue tests are NOT the way to monitor rising hcg levels. There is a huge range in Normal and what's important is how it doubles which the tests can't tell you. If there is reason to suspect an ectopic then proper monitoring is needed. If a pregnant woman has no pain or bleeding and no increased risk of ectopic pregnancy then all she's going to get from repeated tests is anxiety.

Jokeaboutmyhotchoc · 12/06/2016 16:14

Sorry to say this happened to me and I had a MC. Got 1-2 weeks for 21 days.

I got pregnant immediately after MC and that time went quite quickly to 2-3, stalled on that for about a week, and then went to 3+. That was a healthy pregnancy.

Really hope it doesn't mean anything for you but do be aware that it can sometimes mean this Flowers

Jokeaboutmyhotchoc · 12/06/2016 16:15

I'm not advocating repeated tests though, they're not the way to go.

Chickun · 12/06/2016 16:44

Guess i will jeep my fingers crossed and test in a week x

Northernlurker firstly I don't need things written in capitals to understand them - maybe you do, see below I've done some to help you.

Also my friend recently suffered from an ectopic pregnancy and the clear blue tests staying at 1-2 weeks were the reason she went to the doctor and found out. Your opinion might be that they aren't the way BUT MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE IS THAT THEY ARE A VERY USEFUL TOOL. I didn't say they were always right but they can be a good indication that it might be worth seeing a doctor.

DustOffYourHighestHopes · 12/06/2016 19:26

This happened to me and I also MC-ed. There is obviously hope, but the safest thing for you is to go to the doctor and check it out.

Ellie06 · 12/06/2016 19:30

Btw I'm also not saying to keep testing every day, I did one at 9dpo and got a positive then tested two weeks later to double check the line was getting darker and the digital test had increased. If it hadn't at that point I would have gone to see the doctor after my friends experience. I don't think telling people to just stop testing is helpful. Good luck Chickun, I really hope everything turns out ok for you.

Chickun · 12/06/2016 19:34

Thanks everyone. I went to the doctor on Friday and they just sent me away saying they wouldn't do anything until 7 weeks.
I will test again in a week and see what happens i guess :-(

Ellie did you mean to be so snippy? I appreciate you don't like being told you're wrong but you are wrong, as the op's experience has shown. Our gp practices do not need to be inundated with women who've done multiple pregnancy tests and are concerned about how positive the result is. All that will achieve is to make it harder for women with real symptoms of ectopic pregnancy to be taken seriously. The digital tests are a money spinning, anxiety provoking, waste of time. Don't do the manufacturers work for them.

gamerchick · 12/06/2016 21:40

They are man. I wish they would take them off the shelves.

NovemberInDailyFailLand · 13/06/2016 02:16

Indeed they are. They just prey on anxieties.

BorisIsBack · 13/06/2016 07:22

I want CB digis to be banned too. Unnecasary suffering.

Op my cheap ics lines didn't get darker as quickly as i though they should, but Im now 16 weeks. The first few weeks can be hellish until you know the baby has made it. Good luck.

EsmesBees · 13/06/2016 07:28

I had a similar experience. Baby is now 16 months! I think they are notoriously unreliable. I know it's tough but the first bit of pregnancy is a very slow waiting game. You just need to ride it out and see what happens.

HopeArden · 13/06/2016 07:29

I would go back to the dr and ask for a blood test to confirm pg. They shouldn't just fob you off with a 'come back in 7 weeks' - if ectopic that would be dangerous and even if not, it is a long time to wait when you are desperate to know.

Chickun · 13/06/2016 07:36

They asked some questions re pain on one side which i don't have so they said it didn't sound like an eptopic. Felt a bit like she just thought i was neurotic.
I got and anxiety and pnd after my first so often question whether i am being a normal anxious person or over the top :-/
