Hi ladies,

Just wondered what everyone else did when they first went to visit the doctor following a positive pregnancy test?

How soon/late did you go after discovering?

Thanks :) xx

I'm in north Kent and in our area we register online at our local hospital for booking in with the midwife with your nhs number and then they'll call you or text with your booking in appointment which for me was 9 weeks and by this time appointment the hospital had already booked my first dating scan in and confirmed in writing. Didn't need to see the gp once.

I'm in Scotland and have seen my GP early in both pregnancies. No further test done, she just ran through the midwife process, checked my blood pressure, gave me some vitamins and calculated my due date. I dare say it's not a requirement, but it seems to be common practice here x

Bath here, I had to call the midwives after reaching 7 or 8 weeks to arrange the booking appointment.

I'm in SE Wales and I had to see the GP first. Was an absolute waste of time but it's just procedure. I went at 9+5 but it's an IVF pregnancy so I'd already had an early scan at the fertility clinic. Only went so late as it takes ages to get a GP appointment here. I'm being booked in at 11 weeks with scan at 12+3.
