What foods are absolutely not allowed and what is OK on occasion?

hello clydesdalehopper, theres a bit of give and take, but risks for listeria are any soft unpasteurised cheese(- but stuff like philadelphia is usually pasteurized,) any pate, and raw/smoked/cured meat or fish. also stuff made with raw eggs like fresh mayo or tiramisu can cause salmonella. those are the main things and then watching alcohol intake. some people eat whatever, and i have eaten a fair bit of smoked salmon , but if you're a worrier, like me, it may not be worth the risk when youre lying awake at night convincing yourself how ill you are!

Oh, and no bingeing on liver, apparently, as high doses of Vitamin A aren't good. Can't imagine the odd mouthful would hurt though.
Ditto swordfish (often has high levels of mercury) - the odd bit's probably ok but not all day every day.

(I found out I was pregnant on Christmas Eve and DH took great delight in eating all the lovely Brie and all the foie gras paté, and drinking all the champagne. Git. )

I seem to remember ditching diet drinks and sweetener adn reverting to smaller amounts of suger with dd, but can't really remember why - can anyone advise...?

Peanuts are a no-no if there is a history of nut allergy in your family.

I'd say eat nothing raw or undercooked, and only eat from reputable palces if yo're eating out.

Just be sensible I guess.
