Are Moses Baskets ACTUALLY needed?

So, another question.
I live with my parents still, and so will have a cot bed in my room with me.
Are moses baskets however necessary OR can I just put baby in the cotbed from birth, and in the carry cot in the day ?!

Thanks in advance!

Depends on the baby really, mine was a teeny 5 1/2 pounds when he was born so we used the moses basket a lot in the first few weeks. He grew out of it pretty quickly though.

I had a decent pushchair that had a carrycot. Both dcs slept in that until they were 8 mos

I used mine once and that was just to take a picture of her in it! Ended up co sleeping.

I don't know a single newborn that's actually slept happily in one!

Mine never liked Moses basket, waste of money for us.

No, I don't think they're needed. But they are pretty, and I always regretted not having one.

Had 1 for first dc and he hated it so never bothered with it for the younger 2 dc. I was gifted a poddle pod for dc3 tho and it was fab.

If you have a crib as well as cot then I guess not. Our 7 week old sleeps well in her moses basket though and it is really handy to be able to carry to bathroom and garden (under sunshade) as well as the living room. We have been lucky though in getting long stretches in it from the first few weeks. Plus we paid only £10 secondhand.

I loved mine as I didn't have to get out of bed to pick DD up at night, and if she went to sleep downstairs I could just pick her up and take her to bed with me.

You can pick them up v cheaply second hand, use pillow cases as sheets, and just buy a cheap mattress new. I bought a rocking Moses basket that helped transition to self settling.

Literally has this conversation with my Mum today! She purchased a Moses basket when she had me and she said it was an absolute faff ... It was something extra for her to find a place for and to keep clean and she said carrying it around was a pain!! Eventually she gave up with the Moses basket and left me in my cot! She never bought one again.

If you really want one then go for it but I wouldn't say they are necessary at all! :)

No, only useful if you need somewhere for baby to sleep downstairs.

I had one and my baby refused to sleep in it
