I am craving some of my favourites that so far I have cut out for 15 weeks.

Are there any that I can now reintroduce as long as it's in moderation?

Smoked salmon
Soft boiled eggs
Baked Camembert
Stilton

Your can certainly have the first three is have thought. I'm eating them.

My midwife said soft boiled eggs are fine if they are lion stamped.

Any cheese if fine if it's been cooked

Smoked salmon was never on a list of foods to avoid was it? I can't see why.

MyBreadIsEggy · 06/05/2016 06:51

I've eaten smoked salmon and soft cooked eggs in both pregnancies.
I've read somewhere that soft cooked eggs are fine as long as they are Lion stamped.
I would avoid Stilton (or anything else with obvious mould on it!) as per the NHS advice.
Can't comment on camembert because I wouldn't eat that pregnant or not Confused

ProbablyMe · 06/05/2016 06:57

Stilton is fine too!! Says so on the NHS website! Smile

You can eat all of the things that you have mentioned. Eggs must be lion stamped though.

TwllBach · 06/05/2016 07:06

I've eaten everything there apart from the Camembert but possibly only because I haven't been offered any!

Parney · 06/05/2016 07:07

The others seem fine.

All of those things are fine.

For me I wouldn't eat them.....smoked salmon still not coooked though, also with the egg (my midwives say no). I wouldn't the stilton, albeit a mould cheese. Unsure with the Cam cheese. I do know that semi soft cheeses are ok, just not the soft or unpasterised. However I do know women that eat unpasterised if they trust the source. I have been playing it on the safe. I eat plenty of other types of foods and just don't need these in my diet. My lord have I eaten a lot of cheddar cheese though, in my 2nd trimester I was eating a block a day. I'm aiming for a baby with big cheeks :D x

Hearing about the person that got a parasite growing in there cheek after eating sushi put me of salmon anyhow :/

frikadela01 · 06/05/2016 09:07

You can eat all of them. One thing I have seen advised on here is to avoid looking up food restrictions in other countries because some are much stricter than here (I seem to recall new Zealand been very strict). Go by the nhs website rather than others.

Dollface136 · 06/05/2016 11:07

You can have stilton as well (says the NHS) as it is a hard cheese. It's not the mould that is the issue, it's the mould combined with being wet/soft cheeses that cause problems. As others have said, you can eat all of the above, it's up to you how safe you feel.

My rule of thumb is that if I can attest to the freshness of the item then I'll eat it. I'm more fussy when eating out.

My midwife specifically told me to avoid smoked salmon because it is uncooked. Which is a shame because I bloody love the stuff...

Sanch1 · 06/05/2016 19:30

They are all fine! Smoked salmon is smoked, only raw is a no no, egss that are lion stamped are fine, camembert cooked is fine, stilton no problem. Just read the nhs advice, its perfectly clear!

sophied1983 · 08/05/2016 08:04

All of those are fine as long as the eggs have the lion stamp on them.

NHS website is your best bet.

MeDownSouth · 08/05/2016 08:43

I did read that freezing fish beforehand kills any bugs so that might be something to look into? Baked camembert should be fine :)

Have a read of the link above (NHS)

tinytoucan · 08/05/2016 08:57

I think the only one of those I didn't eat while recently pregnant was the Camembert, but I think you can have the soft cheese if its cooked so you'd be fine. Eggs are fine to have soft if they're lion stamped, and Stilton is fine as its a hard cheese- I ate loads of it Grin

LumpishAndIllogical · 08/05/2016 11:53

You can eat smoke salmon bought from a supermarket as it is highly chemically processed and no bugs living in it. However, artisan smoked salmon from deli/farmers market isn't as processed so avoid. 😊
