Whooping Cough Vaccine

Has anyone decided NOT to have the vaccine?

I had decided not to bother as I am already vaccinated and had heard bad things about getting ill after having the vaccine. Also, didn't have it with DD as they didn't offer it then and we had no problems.

That said, a friend has just caught whooping cough so I am now wondering if I might be changing my mind...

Sorry 16 to 32 weeks not 28

Found the correct dates on Internet

In April 2016 the UK’s Department of Health updated its advice on the best time for pregnant women to get the pertussis vaccine. The vaccine is now recommended any time between week 16 and week 32 of pregnancy. Before April 2016 pregnant women were advised to get the vaccine in the third trimester (between week 28 and week 32), which was thought to be the best time for antibodies to be made and passed from the mother to the baby across the placenta. The change in advice is based on a new study by Swiss researchers which showed that more antibodies crossed from the mother to the baby when the pertussis vaccine was given earlier in pregnancy.

Not RTFT but for goodness sake, please have it.

I elected not to. Sitting in a hospital cubicle for 4 days with my 3-week old daughter, watching her cough so hard she was fighting for each breath, seeing her turn blue and convulse, did I fucking regret my decision... Thankfully she has made a good recovery but please don't put yourself or your baby through something so awful when it can be so easily prevented.
