Besides the obvious bad morning sickness and then joy of having a baby of course.
Good: Don't have to change the cat litter. This is a massive plus.
Bad: Tea now tastes horrible Angry
Can no longer stomach sporn threads!

I can't watch things with loads of jerky movement in. My Dh was showing me a video of a race with the perspective being on the drivers helmet, It knocked me sideways!
I'm on day two of not wanting tea first thing (since I was about 12)
I'm too hot, all the time (sort of a good thing because im saving on heating!)
I swing between not feeling pregnant at all to feeling completely sick with every cramp, twitch and pain scaring the bejeesus out of me.

Pro: I've had two big mac meals and a boat load of fried chicken and Dh has encouraged it, taken me to get it and done the washing up while I'm eating it!

I'm only 9+3 Confused

Lovelongweekends · 24/04/2016 11:53

Con: crying at ridiculous things like the start of the London Marathon!!
Pro: being able to wear my lovely comfy maternity jeans again!!

Sparklycat · 24/04/2016 12:18

Yes yes to no cat litter!! Will miss that Grin

KP86 · 24/04/2016 12:22

I cried watching a fun run as well! Which I then participated in later that morning. I was only just over 3 and a half weeks and wouldn't find out for another day or so.

seven201 · 24/04/2016 12:25

Pro - Not having to suck belly in and being able to wear striped clothes

Pros -

You don't have to empty the bins.
You can create a legitimate excuse for not washing up - "the smell makes me sick/the bits of food make me sick".
You can walk into Macdonalds/KFC/Burger King with your head held high and proudly order whatever you want without having to sneak out with the bag hidden in your coat.
You can ignore the doorbell and the phone as much as you like because you were 'taking a nap'.

Cons -

You get really, worryingly, jaw droppingly stupid.
You cry at anything remotely cute or melancholy.
The sight of your husbands discarded socks on the floor sends you into such a rage that you begin to fantasise about how you would get away with his murder in court.
Your bladder becomes what feels like a stress ball/chew toy for baby to grab hold of and twist when the mood takes them, usually at 3am.

BabyBumpHopeful · 26/04/2016 03:17

Pros:

  • Finally pregnant after 16 months!
  • First grandchild for DH's side which is also super exciting

Cons:

  • Heartburn, seriously awful heartburn (I have GERD anyway and they stopped my main meds)
  • The idea of certain foods/textures/gross stuff that before would just kinda make me think "eww", now literally turns my stomach
  • Not everyone knows yet (7 + 2) so I need to come up with inventive reasons for feeling "off" at work
CaptainWarbeck · 26/04/2016 03:22

Not being able to enter a supermarket because the smell of all the veg made me feel sick... and the kitchen bin had to live outside which was very inconvenient.

On the plus side, DH did all food shopping and any kind of interaction with the bin, so that was good.

Pros - (now I'm on maternity leave) napping, being lazy when I feel like it, eating what I like
Cons - heartburn, constant peeing, diaohera (literally shat myself twice 😷), being incredibly uncomfortable all the time!

BubbleandSqueeeek · 26/04/2016 14:10

Pros - feeling baby move (even though it's sometimes very uncomfortable)

  • natural boob job
  • sharing it all with DC1

Cons - fucking stupid preggo constipation, no matter what I eat

  • not being able to move faster than a snail's pace at times, or touch my toes
  • needing regular naps but not able to due to still being at work/four year old clawing at my face.
BubbleandSqueeeek · 26/04/2016 14:11

P.S. am I the only one still doing cat litter and dog poos?? I just wear gloves and give my hands a thorough wash Confused

proudmom135 · 26/04/2016 15:57

PROS: A new life awaits

CONS: Needs extra care

GrouchyKiwi · 26/04/2016 16:05

Cons: SPD, tiredness, trying to look after 2 year old and 4 year old with large bump, lack of brains, tiredness.

Pros: new baby in 4 weeks, ready-made excuse for all of my irrational behaviour, convincing DH to get me whatever I want to eat despite not actually having genuine cravings (he doesn't know they're not genuine).

missybct · 26/04/2016 16:13

Pros: I can't wait to meet my little boy, I can get away with less housework, I really like planning for our newborn, my fiancée is thrilled, it'll be my Mum's first grandchild (and brother = nephew), we're moving house into a proper family home, I love stroking my belly!

Cons: The headaches, the fear (firstborn, paranoid), the decline in my mental health (hormones raging), not being able to deal with stress as well, working in a stuffy office making me ill, constipation, feeling really vulnerable and paranoid...

MeDownSouth · 26/04/2016 17:35

Cons: tummy too big for normal clothes but too small for maternity clothes
getting tired just doing the washing up

Pros: watching little one on the scan monitor :)
getting to coo at baby stuff without people (OH) thinking you're weird

IrisPurple1 · 26/04/2016 21:08

Great 5 thread!

At 15 weeks:

The Good:

  • A year off work!
  • Telling all our friends and family and everyone being excited for us
  • Maternity clothes - showing off my bump
  • My hair looks amazing and I only have to wash it every 4 days
  • Excise to make a whole books full of lists!

The Bad:

  • Losing my sense of taste and being unable to enjoy my food
  • No booze
  • Only 1 cup of tea a day
  • Don't like curry any more
  • Tiredness
  • Not fitting in to some of my favourite clothes

The Ugly:

  • Bloating
  • Constipation
kiki22 · 27/04/2016 14:03

Cons : Food aversions
Random aches and pains
People telling me I shouldn't lift/work out/be busy
Tiredness
Craving junk food
Having to ask people to help me do things
Being slow
Crying
Constipation
Maternity clothes
Constant loo trips
Crazy dreams
People constantly asking how I'm out keeping
People commenting on my bump
Getting the baby out
Anxiety

Pros: Baby at the end
Feeling kicks

I hate pregnancy I really grudge not being able to do things easily for myself and dp doing my housework wrong, feet up is not my natural state.

kiki22 · 27/04/2016 14:05

Bubble I'm still doing the cat tray I couldn't leave it all day.

MetalMidget · 27/04/2016 14:59

Pros:

Finally pregnant!
Stupid narrow feet have widened slightly, meaning that they now fit better in standard width shoes, meaning fewer water blisters
Increase of three cup sizes

Cons:

Crying at the Dogs Trust advert... and everything else
Needing the loo
Hip pain
Flatulence
Waddling
Needing the loo again
Constant terror and fear of doing something wrong or being irreparably broken by childbirth
Having to cut back on mountain biking
Needing the loo AGAIN
Worrying about career
Increase of three cupsizes

fruityb · 27/04/2016 20:47

The good: pregnant after two years of trying!
Thick and shiny hair; firm and long nails
Maternity clothes - they're the greatest thing ever
Being treated like a Queen by my OH - he always was amazing but watching him watch me is the greatest feeling ever. I cannot tell you how excited I am about having his baby.

The bad: first trimester exhaustion - sweet jesus it nearly killed me
Turning slightly stupid
Being unable to decide whether I feel like an empowered woman or a double decker bus!

The ugly: swinging between constipation or enormous poos!
Being terrified of how it's going to affect my body afterwards.

Eating way too much lol

To be fair though I am loving every minute of this. I cannot wait to see my OH's face when baby finally gets here. I feel good and I am enjoying carrying and feeling this little life. It's an incredible time.
