football hit my bump!

mad thing happened today, got the garden finally finished, sitting out enjoying the sun on the new patio area, dozing with my hand on the lower part of my bump - when i got hit with the football from next door. came over the wall, as my eyes were closed i didnt see it.
i screamed/shouted and the neighbour jumped up over the wall and asked me was i ok, i got such a fright i was crying / panicing. so i said yes fine, dont worry, she asked me where it hit me and i said the bump - can you believe it, the whole garden and it hits me. it would actually be funny in other circumstances.
anyway went indoors rang dh in a panic who calmed me down (wedding anniversary today) after listening to my incomprehensible sobs, and i calmed myself. my poor neighbour came to the door awhile later white as a sheet, and apologising, telling me the ball was getting the knife!!!
mad

Good grief! Freaky stuff! Are you ok now? Worth letting the m/w know maybe? All the best

Hi hermykne, I was kicked in the bump accidentally by ds (very hard too, he was bouncing on a large trampoline at an outdoor play place and I was standing at the side and he fell and kicked me hard) when I was pregnant with dd, who's now six months old. I think I was about 5 months pregnant and I was really worried but it was ok. I'd check with the midwife if you're worried though.

sweetkitty · 26/05/2004 21:44

hope your ok I'm sure you will be bubs is well protected and cushioned in there.

Hulababy · 26/05/2004 21:51

hermykne. Hope you are okay now and bump is too I had a chair thrown at my bump at 7 months (lovely school pupil didn't like me telling him to do some work) but, although very shocked, all was okay. If you are at all worried tell your MW.

agy · 26/05/2004 21:54

I read that the uterus wall has very strong muscles which do the job of protecting the baby. Sure you'll be ok.

hermykne · 26/05/2004 22:23

thanks all for those comforting words, i am fine, plenty of stretching tonight and kicking so i think alls ok, but will mention to m/w.

its was just a mad thing to happen!

I fell down the stairs with DD and of course panicked. My m\w said not to worry as long as I felt kicking and movement. Where the baby is, is very well protected just mention it anyway so it is on your notes that you did.

Jimjams · 27/05/2004 09:46

The baby is VERY well protected. Is this your first? I was very worried in my first about this sort of thing, but sepnt the 2nd pregnancy being headbutted, kicked and trampled on by ds1. Then realised how well protected it is. This third pregnancy has been clambered on by ds1 and headbutted and kicked by ds2 already. Unless you're hit hard enough for a placental abruption (eg in a car crash or something) it's very unlikely that any damage will be done.

hermykne · 27/05/2004 18:08

jim jams my 2nd so i am getting plenty of toddler kicks externally !

I'm amazed second babies get born! lol. My eldest son is a heavy 5 year old (autistic so no clue about pregnancy) and he came in this morning climbed up into bed and just sat right on my (very small- I'm only 9 weeks) bump.

Please don't worry, I'm sure you'll be fine but maybe get a quick check for peace of mind. Same happened to me, DS now 4 with no problems, and someone pointed out to me that if you put an egg in a bag of water then drop the bag on the floor the egg will not break, it's the same thing...sort of.

LadyMuck · 28/05/2004 10:46

What a shock! Hope you feel Ok. Doubtless you know this, but just in case, if you are Rh- and there is a chance that baby is Rh+, then you should probably see mw. They often like to give Anti-D under these circumstances "just in case".

really like this thread - reassuring (in a weird sort of way) to read of all these mis-haps that turned out fine - nice and positive, and not scaremongering for a change.
Thanks

hermykne · 28/05/2004 20:20

wow loads of mishaps with bumps!
there made of strong stuff those babies in there.

the little boy who kicked the ball arrived with some rather nice chocolates for me last night and a sorry! poor little thing.
