i have just found i am pregnant!my baby is only 12 weeks old and i haven't gone back on the pill yet, we have been using condoms but it obviously failed us, not sure how but it did. anyway when lo2 is due lo1 will be just under 11 months. also have a step dd who is 2.5 yrs older than ds1 and have found that to be fine. is it going to be a lot harder - am i stupid for even asking that?

Firstly, congratulations on your pregnancy!

It may not feel like the timing is great for you but I'm sure once you get used to the idea a bit more, you'll be so excited! It's only natural to have worries about how you're going to cope, no matter what the age gap.

My second son was unexpected, and was conceived when my ds was 8 months old, so there are 17 months between them. They get on fantastically most of the time, as they have so much in common (although they have their disagreements like all siblings!), and it's lovely to watch themn together.

It was hard at times, but at least nappies, etc are out of the way within a year or so of each other, and it will start getting easier very quickly.

Lots of MN'ers have children quite close together, I'm sure some of them will be along soon to give you more advice and encouragement.

X

hiya,
and yes i'm not gonna lie of course it will be hard but you will get through it.you will find a way of copeing, (well i did) i had mine a year apart and it was a nightmare but now i dont see a problem it's actually really nice as they find thing's to do together as they are near enough the same age. you will find they will both enjoy the same thing's because of them being almost the same age (everyone thought that mine were twin's.)
the only down fall i found was that i felt my oldest had to grow up a little quicker and i always wonder if he in some way he is jelious of her but then you would get this if you was to have another baby two year's down the line so i wouldent worry to much one bonus you will not need to buy much xx

mumindistress,

I had an 11month age gap. It wasnt the easiest of age gaps - when my friend had an 18mth gap i thought it looked liked bliss!! However, first 6mths was hard - now they are 2 and 3, its amazing, and they are great mates.

if you want to mail me about anything, please do. [email protected]
