Are there any protein shakes/yoghurt type things that are safe to eat?

I'm suffering with MS still at nearly 20 weeks. I am getting cramps which ease off if I have more protein in my diet. Trouble is, I'm struggling to eat what I think is enough protein.

Is there anything that's safe to use in pregnancy to help me top up? Or maybe an alternative, high protein snack I haven't thought of that's not got nuts in? I couldn't eat them before I was pg Easter Envy

What about high protein yoghurt? Danio or something?

Beansprout30 · 26/03/2016 20:18

Hummus? Natural yoghurt?

If you have a Google there are lots of recipes online for but free protein bars you can make at home. Personally I think they all look rank but they might help top up your protein intake Grin

Upbeat drinks? 200ml and 20g of protein. Waitrose, Coop and Boots sell them, they'll be near the milk

I think you need to check they don't have added vit a.

I could only stomach roasted chicken breast when HG was really bad.

Hard boiled eggs
Chicken, salmon
Cheese - bland ones like mozzarella

Any of these tolerable?

cheapredwine · 27/03/2016 17:53

I am pretty sure there's no added vitamin Upbeat but yep, do check OP.

I'm having triplets and have been advised to use protein shakes. I found most of the ones I tried too sweet, but I quite like the Purition raw vegan hemp one. I whizz it with some frozen blueberries, a banana and some milk to make a thick smoothie, which is quite nice.

Vit A is fine if it comes from plant sources (in the form of beta-carotene) as opposed to animal sources.
