Hi all, I am 24+1 and todays events have left me feeling quite silly...
I went to work this morning and at about 11am I felt a distinct small gush of fluid. This is not the first time this has happened - happened at 16 weeks and I had to have speculum exam and vaginal swab which showed nothing abnormal (at 16 weeks I was seen in the antenatal clinic - not admitted)
Anyway back to why I feel like an idiot - I rather stupidly got myself into a bit a panic and phoned the labour ward. I calmly described what had happened and they were adamant that I should go in for some tests/monitoring. I phoned DH who also got very worried and rushed to the hospital from work.
The upshot of the whole long day was a speculum exam and swab (not nice at the best of times), a scan and then just as I was about to be discharged I felt another small gush. This caused more worry and I was ordered to lie flat and still for 2 hours only to have another speculum exam which showed nothing wrong!! The consultant puts it down to excess vaginal secretions (exceedingly embarrassed emoticon would do nicely).
I felt so foolish taking up their valueable time, getting my husband running round like mad and all for nought...
Please tell me I am not the only idiot who has done this...
What did come to light is that I am carrying a massive baby - he is so big that I have been booked for a scan at 28 and possibly 32 weeks to check that everything is ok (he is over the 95th centile...)
What a day...
