Best co-sleeper cot?

Hello,
I'm pretty set on getting a bedside cot to make things a bit easier for myself to bf (e.g not having to get out of bed) and being able up see babies face whenever I like.
I've been doing some research online and wondered what you all thought was the best one? Don't mind spending £150-£200.

I'm going to hire a bednest. I feel that, having looked into it, the very sad incident that happened the other year was not caused by an inherent fault in the product. In any case, they have now been modified to make the type of use that was implicated in that accident impossible.

I've chosen that one largely because it can be hired: I'm only intending to have one child so it seemed madness to buy one if a rental option was available.

I'd go with as big as you can fit and afford. That way you do not have your hand forced into a move when the child outgrows the cot.
(Says the woman with a 2 year old still sleeping in a cot next to me!)

Ours is a mothercare one (but I think discontinued now) we got secondhand and just added a new mattress.

But I have since realised that you don't need to get a specific bedside cot - just one which has a decent range of heights (so you can match to your bed height) and then take a side off. (Lots of people say IKEA ones can be easy to do this) Use a rolled up blanket to ensure there's no gap between your bed and the cot.

Love our babybay. I used 4 different bedside cots and it was by far the best

I had a Fabimax and was glad that I got this one and not any of the smaller ones, as both babies turned out to be very tall. You can also buy a 4th, lower side for when they start to roll.

I would love a snuzpod or bednest but don't think they will reach the height of our very high bed! We have a divan with an extra deep mattress and I think I've measured it slightly over the height of the snuzpod.
We wouldn't be able to fit a full size/width cot next to the bed as limited space in our bedroom.
Did anyone else have a tall bed that worked with a co-sleeper cot?

KayTee87 · 10/03/2016 12:32

Kstar my bed feels pretty tall. Going to measure tonight then check against all the options recommended here.

Thanks KayTee! The top of our mattress is about 68cm. The snuzpod mattress reaches a height of 58cm so baby wouldn't be level with the bed. I don't know if the extra height of a sleepyhead in the snuzpod would help.

greenlizard · 10/03/2016 16:21

For those with babies that wouldn't sleep on anyone but them/or in bed with them we tried the cocoonababy and it worked a treat. DS slept on it in his snuzpod (I prounounced it snuz-pod too!) until 9 weeks old then he was in the pod on his own.

Kstar and Kaytee - our bed is at least 65cm. I got an additional piece of cot grade foam to boost up the mattress. Still left a decent depth of cot.

Another vote for the babybay

We took the side off our normal John Lewis cot for ds2 and tethered it to the bed frame with bungee cords - it worked perfectly and lasted much longer than any bedside crib would have especially as he was a gigantosaurus baby.
