Inconsistent movements

This is my second on-going pregnancy and I'm 32 weeks. I've just felt the baby doing plenty of big kicks and wiggles so I'm not about to panic.... However, for the last few days I do seem to have massive chunks of the day when I can't feel him moving at all.

He has been consistently transverse so far on scans. Does anyone have experience of feeling transverse babies less?

How long do you think is a normal resting gap in between kicks?

The advice is to go in and get checked if you notice a significant change in your baby's pattern of movements. It may well be due to the transverse position but you need to make sure.

I'm still feeling him move loads when he is moving if you know what I mean. It's just that the gaps seem longer now too. I've got a growth scan booked for tomorrow anyway. I was just wondering if it's normal for the gaps to get longer in certain positions or stages of pregnancy

If you are worried you should go get monitored to put your mind at rest, they should be happy to help.

The trouble is, even if other people on a forum tell you that they've experienced similar reduction of movement and it was fine, that doesn't really mean a lot. You've noticed a change in movement pattern, and that's exactly when they advise you to call someone. Mosy likely everything is fine and he's just in a funny position, but in your position I'd at least be giving the labour ward a call for advice. You should have a number in your notes. They might just say wait for your scan, but at least you'd be reassured.

I am 37 weeks and feel movement a lot, big movements too. However apart from mainly morning and evening there is no real pattern. My midwife told me they would expect movement at least 10 times a day but didn't seem worried about no pattern. Although of course never risk anything and call up if you are worried or there are changes.

I'm definitely getting movement more than 10 episodes a day so that's good. My baby just seems to be nocturnal and sleeps through chunks of the day when I'm busy. Every time I start to worry that he's been quiet for too long I get a good wiggle which is reassuring

I'm 32 weeks too, with twins. I find that whilst I'm most active they are somewhat inactive, and when I'm in the bath, in bed or on the sofa relaxing - they think it's party time! I asked my midwife last week and she said whilst I'm up and about my body movements 'rock' them to sleep and whilst I am relaxed and still they tend to wake up! If you are concerned maybe text or call your MW X

The 10 episodes a day thing is now old guidance. You should ascertain what is normal for you and your baby. Visit this website www.kickscount.org.uk

All good on scan today. Growth is perfectly on track so he's doing just fine in there - I'm just not aware of his wiggles some of the time I guess. He was waving away at the sonographer and kicking and I didn't feel a thing!
