have you tried a wedge pillow, am 17 weeks too but not much of a bump just fat

trace2 · 03/01/2007 10:44

oh i am waking up to at 230 ish and can not get back to sleep

fortyplus · 03/01/2007 10:45

Sllep on your side - pillow betwwen your knees and one under your bump. But hard to imagine how it will help at only 17 weeks. Maybe your problem is because you can feel the baby moving now? In which case maybe you'll get used to it. Hope so

Don't know if you are in to this sort of thing - I'm 15 weeks and have been seeing a homeopath. The 3.30 waking is aparently due to your liver. The homeopathic remedies have worked really well and if I do wake up, I go straight back to sleep.

babylove123 · 03/01/2007 20:36

insomnia is supposed to hit you at that time isnt it?

decafgirl · 04/01/2007 00:05

I'm so pleased I've found this thread! I thought I was going a teensy bit mad - I've been waking up at 4am for the past fortnight (I'm just coming up to 14 weeks) and now I'm just not really sleeping at all.

I'm dreading going back to work on Monday (I'm a primary school teacher - there's no escape!) I think there's a possibility it's because I normally sleep on my stomach and I'm just at the point where that is becoming a little bit tricky.

Any more tips for a good night's kip would be greatly appreciated!

Decaf and nikie - I had terrible problems sleeping for most of my pregnancy and I think a big factor was not being able to sleep on my tummy! Also my DS decided to go ROA and I was advised to make sure I ALWAYS slept on my left side to try to turn him (didn't work!) - I absolutely hated that. So I sympathise but haven't got a solution, other than using MN to keep you occupied in the small hours!

fortyplus · 04/01/2007 00:20

I used to sleep flat on my back with one arm behind my head - but it's not supposed to be a good idea as it reduces oxygen levels to the baby. But I usually ended up in that position whether I wanted to or not.
Dh had to move into the spare room cos I started snoring!

Nothing to add really apart from join the club. It's now nearly 1am and I am knackered but can't sleep at all.

Orchide · 04/01/2007 01:25

A thread i can relate to!! Am siting here with good ol' Horlicks in the hope that it will do the trick and induce sleep. ...not working so far though!
Decafgirl, like you i am a teacher and go back on Monday, at this rate getting up will be seriously hard work!! Have lain awake for ages and now considering doing some plannign in preparation for next week - at least my time wont be completely wasted!

We were told not sleeping is natures way of preparing you for when your little bean is here . I haven't slept properly for months, theres a little old lady over the road whos light is usally on when I'm awake, I considered going over in my dressing gown and asking her of she wanted to be my friend Warm bath and hot chocolate might help?

babylove123 · 04/01/2007 13:29

I get that with PMT, i suppose its the same sorta thing going on?

Twinklemegan · 04/01/2007 15:11

Daisypops - yes I heard that one too. Trouble is that by the time DS arrived I'd already been seriously deprived of sleep for months so I was exhausted even before we started!

nikie1 · 04/01/2007 17:05

well it's great to know that i am not the only one then!!or not so great that everyone is driveing them selfs mad to!!!!ha ha ha well i kept my self awake late last night and i managed to stay asleep untill 5am .my hubby gave me a massage and brushed my hair for a while to relax me so maybe that helped what i cant get my head around is that if i'm like this now god help me when bump arrives, i'll be nackerd!!

Nikie - I can't honestly say I've been much more knackered since DS arrived than I was when I was pregnant! You'll be fine! At least your baby is a much better reason for being tired than just not being able to sleep (that's what I told myself anyway).
