Hi Wilkie!

it should be personal for you !

i didnt' dilate past 2 - 3cm in my first labour, which ended in a c,s

so all through second pregnancy, i did a visualisaiotn of my cervix opening and my baby coming down and out..imagined my cervix like a flower bud opening..although, it looks nothing like that, the image worked for me!

visualising a good , happy , positive birth, with you holding baby in your arms, hot, sweaty and elated is a good one for any mum to be!

i tended to do it in the bath , in semi darkness and quiet, if i could!

it worked for me, and gave me something to focus on and think about in a a positive way !

wilkie50 · 02/01/2007 20:30

Thank you - I really want my birth to be a positive experience and any tips like that are great.

Are you a MW? You seem to have 'the knowledge'?

lulumama · 02/01/2007 20:34

lol! frustrated midwife, trainee doula ! midwifery is the plan when the kids are older !

had crappy first birth and brilliant second one, so wanted to do something with all the knowledge and learning i had done when pregnant with DD......just feel really strongly and passionately that birth needs to be reclaimed as something 'natural' and women need to the confidence they can do it, with the minimum of fuss, intervention and medicalisation

the only thing is, the more i learn, the more i want to give birth again, as i know i could do it so much better !!

i could go on for ages about it!

Ilovebabies · 02/01/2007 20:58

When i had a sweep with my last son i got a discharge a lot like yours too and started getting pains in my lower back early the next morning and son was born at 3pm that day. So sounds like things are looking good.

Good Luck!

Visualization and relaxation are key.

Daisypops · 02/01/2007 22:06

LMAO at 'my fingers aren't long enough'

When do MW's do sweeps? How overdue do you have to be?

Lulu-I'm still waiting for this bub to come! Feeling more positive about labour just want it to be here now so I can put all my positive thinking and plans in to action!

lulumama · 02/01/2007 22:08
