Hi changing my car. Would love a mini. DH isn't for the idea. Thinks they are too small. I'm sure with first baby in June. Have ordered egg pram and cabriofix car seat and base. Any mini owners have any advice/ experience they could share. Thanks ladies.

Mini actually make their own buggies and prams designed for fitting!

OnNaturesCourse really? That's so cool!! Off to investigate

I'm looking into it too. I believe you can get many colours etc too, it used to just be the buggy style union Jack design but they now do a full travel system xx

Don't do it! I love my mini one but in all honestly it's an absolute nightmare trying to get DS (11mo) into it without pulling a fecking back muscle.

The mini prams didn't fit in mine! The cossatto giggle does though.

If you're keen on the idea of extended rear facing car seats once baby gets to 9 months I would steer WELL CLEAR of a Mini!

We had an ERF seat in our Corsa and whilst it did fit there was no way the front seat was usable once the car seat was in; I think that was about the limit of squeezing a car seat in a car.

@Rosi393 OMG I've just seen this message when coming into this forum. You've obviously had the baby now but I have a mini and I had an EGG and it was the worst! The frame used to go in the passenger front seat. Lol

debbiepinto · 06/02/2018 09:58

@Rosi393 frame in the boot and car seat in the front seat. Grrrrrrr

I had a cooper sport S which was 5 door as a courtesy car for a month whilst my car was being repaired - it was lovely to drive but so so impractical with my DD, she was 18m at the time and in her car seat in the back, it was so tight and there was no room for pram and shopping in the boot!

CrystalMethHog · 01/03/2018 14:21

I have a mini and Ds is 22 months. It has been utter hell and would advise against it. I've got the cossatto giggle which fits in fine but getting him in and out of the car is a skill. I can't tell you how many injuries I've sustained trying to get him him without bumping him.

That aside it is a dream to drive Grin

I was looking at getting a mini last year, but was advised against it as they apparently aren't very practical if you have babies/toddlers. Which I have a 2 year old and a baby due in May.
I ended up buying a ford Kuga. Definitely one of the best decisions I made! And good in weather like this too!

Ive just sold my Mini, because im due in Sept, ive gone for a VW Tiguan, nice and spacious car

ForFuckSakeSusan · 02/03/2018 11:51

Don't do it! I've always owned Minis and got a new one a few months before I got pregnant. It's a nightmare, found a pram that sort of fits in the boot but have to take the wheels off and there's no room for anything else. Car seat doesn't fit in between the door pillar and back of the front seat so adult passengers are in the back whilst baby rides up front. A Countryman would be your best bet but now I've started looking at other cars I realise you can get much, much better for your money!
