hi, the body butters from bodyshop works well for me, i use the brazilian nut one that is extremely rich and helps my skin during the streching phases.

however, strech marks are a genetic feature, just like celulite. creams might help but your genetic code will have the last word on it.

Indith · 31/12/2006 09:24

I've been through several huge tubs of E 45 and escaped without a single stretch mark on my tummy.
Forgot about my boobs at first though and they are a different story!

EniDeepMidwinter · 31/12/2006 09:25

agree with jabuti

I didnt use anything with dd3 and still dont have a single stretch mark (preen)

LupinsBigLump · 31/12/2006 10:40

Thanks I realise they are inevitable, resigned to that fact, the body shop butters are really nice, I think it was the advocado one i have had b4,

I don't think anything helps. I massaged my bump religiousy from the day I found out I was pregnant the first time and I still got them. Its genetic I think.

olivhohoho · 31/12/2006 16:26

i used oil from 9 weeks, my mum and sis dint get them but i did . biooil is nice though!!

strawberri · 03/01/2007 12:18

It is genetic but apparently massaging the skin twice daily also helps....advice from a mate with 3 kids and NO marks, I have been told to use oil in the morning after a bath and cream-such as body butter or e45 at night.

Dragthing · 05/01/2007 22:06

A friend swears by Clarins Huile Tonic - expensive at £30 but one pot should get you through. I've been using Body Shop coconut butter on bump and boobs and have stretch marks already (19 weeks) on boobs.

LupinsBigLump · 06/01/2007 04:55

Thanks - I got some bio oil in the end which is lovely and will get some body butter as well, trying to convince my mum to make me some but she has to buy in bulk and doesnt want to atm grrr - off to body shop then

I really like the palmers cocoa butter too but as pistachio said I have a friend who couldn't use it as the smell made her feel sick. I love the smell and it's amazingly moisturising and not greasy at all.

LupinsBigLump · 14/01/2007 21:42

Is it a coconutty smell if so I love that smell - been using bio oil religously and the stretchmarks are appearing fast

cinnamongreyhound · 14/01/2007 21:45

No, more cocoa smell. It is quite sickly and kind of chocolatey I guess. And it's a smell that really lasts, when I shower in the morning it's the first thing I smell from putting it on the previous morning. The best thing to do is to pop open a bottle next time you're in Tesco/Boots/Superdrug and sniff it for yourself!

Lwatkins · 15/01/2007 05:22

I use johnsons baby oil, even though it's really greasy for a while it feels sooo good especially once it's dried in. It's much cheaper to buy than all these other fancy creams etc that are coming out now. Get back to basics i say!!! I'm 21+1 and don't have any stretch marks yet, though apparently the creams/oils isn't what stops your skin from getting stretchmarks.

Natalia PreNatal Anti Stretch Oil is just lovely and lasted me through my pregnancy as you only need a few drops.

sonta · 16/01/2007 14:43

Sainsbury's baby oil gel, a bit messy but did the trick for me and is cheap

jellybellie · 16/01/2007 15:42

Clarins is definitely worth the ££ - smells gorgeous and worked miracles - I put on almots 4 stones when I was pregnant and not one stretch mark - tip: don't forget boobs/bum as well as bump!!

Piffle · 16/01/2007 15:44

I use the Clarins Huile oil
it is addictive and I use it in and out of pregnancy, the smell is divine and it keeps skin soft moist and supple
