Rash question - help appreciated please!

My DD has been ill for the past week with a cold and cough and, since midweek, earache. Now I have just discovered she has a rash on her back, neck, behind her ears and her chest. I don't know much about rashes....she has chickenpox years ago (but rash doesn't look like this anyway) and has had scarlet fever before (although I don't remember any rash) and has had all her immunisations. What could it be? Also, I am 9 weeks pg...should I be worried about me too? I have a cold and sore throat, but no rash...

Mine often get some sort of post-virus rash that goes down after a day or two, like hives. In fact we've had it this morning on DS's legs, and after some piriton it's going away. But if I were you I'd get a doctor to have a look especialy in light of you being pregnant.

My dd has had viral hives on and off for days now (red skin with white raised patches on it - itchy). A spot of piriton takes it down. What kind of rash does your dd have?

Red and blotchy. My dp immediately said measles but she's been immunised so.......
I actually noticed a few spots behind her ears a few days ago but she has also just had lice so I put it down to that at the time. She is now saying it is itchy but I think shes only saying that since she knew it was there, iyswim. I was thnking I might pop into the chemist and ask the pharmacist their opinion.....

the pharmicy is a good idea... it does sound potentially viral.

We have all had sore throats. colds and ds 1 has a small rash on his face- as it's small and not spreading I am not concerned about it.... yet!

If you are worried you could just ring the GP's and ask if someone could call you to advise maybe.

I think some reassurance from the GP... or pharmacy might help you relax- then I hope you can concerntrate on all getting better fast!!

It sounds like viraemia which is where a virus is broken down by the body and the immune system reacts to it (viral hives as Aloha said). Its' really common, most children will have it at some stage and can happen repeatedly with different viruses (my youngest gets a rash nearly every time he gets a cold)

With measles you normally get something called Koplik's spots inside the mouth, often the cheek, which are red with a blue-white centre. If she's been vaccinated it's pretty unlikely to be this anyway tbh.
