Changing Bags

Hi all, changing bags online seem to be really expensive - £130 seems to be pretty normal. This is for DC1 and I'm inexperienced. Are they worth the money? What do you use when you're out and about? Thanks

I got a changing bag from mothercare (on sale) for £22.50 down from £45.
I would say £130 is excessive unless it comes packed with someone who will change the nappy for you!

I did have my eye on the babymoov before I saw my one for so cheap.

I've got almost the exact bag linked above but plain blue and it's absolutely fine, I got a fancy I candy one thrown in with my pram which is like a huge handbag and wouldn't fit under the pram or even in the boot when the pram was in!

I've had 2 babymel bags - both gifts from DH but I think they're about £50 and look like a regular handbag which I like.

The pockets are handy for finding stuff easily and they have an insulated zip section if you want to take a bottle but I wouldn't say any changing bag is worth £130!

Thanks for the suggestions all. Yes I was on the Natural Baby Shower website and I think my head was being turned! I can see that £130 is a bit crazy.

I got a lovely big paccapod one from eBay for £30. Have a look there was loads on there when I was looking.

My "changing bag" is a £3 rucksack from Decathlon. Far easier to carry in general, and especially when you're using a sling. Lots of pockets, perfect size...I cannot comprehend why anyone would spend £130 or even half that on an "official" changing bag. You just need a bag...

I really liked the Skip Hop changing bags. They are often in TK Maxx for about £20.

Definitely not worth it. Any bag will do and as soon as they start walking it's easier to use a rucksack anyway, otherwise when you bend down to pick them up a shoulder bag smacks them in the face. You really don't need to take that much stuff everywhere with you so I always think the massive bags are overkill anyway and massively overpriced.

I like my rucksack - just one I owned already. Just need a folding change mat to go with. Easy with a sling and space for a change of clothes for both of you!

I'm about to have dc2 and I like a proper changing bag! Have done the changing mat in a backpack too and it's good for when you're using a sling but when they're in the pram I really like having something big and waterproof I can hang over the handle. I just bought a new one for this new baby this one. I love it!

I joined the Boots Parenting Club and got a free changing bag when I bought a pack of nappies! It's fairly basic, but comes with a foldup changing mat and lots of pockets / compartments.

If you register with Bounty they seem to have fairly regular offers on changing bags, including Pink Lining which are fab but expensive.

I love the Skip Hop changing station. Not expensive and is basically a change mat with pockets for wipes and nappies. I just chuck it in a larger bag with the other bits I need.

I had a pacapod. I loved having the separate bags for changing & feeding & plenty of space in the main section for spare clothes, toys etc. I was looking on eBay for one but we were given some money & as we bought everything else except the car seat & mattresses second hand i decided to splash out. Stopped using it when DS was about a year, we use the small rucksack that he takes to the CM everyday now & I have a handbag for my stuff.
