Anterior, low placenta

Hi,
At my dating scan I was told (quite casually) that I had an anterior low placenta. They didn't elaborate on how low it was in relation to the cervical movement. Has anyone else had this? Did the placenta move or did you need a c section? xx

Mine was low lying at 20 weeks but had moved by the next scan. I seem to remember something like 95% of the time it moves out of the way. Good luck!

Yes, I did with dd. It moved by the time I got to the 34 week scan. I was told I might not feel kicks very strongly but there was no danger of that happening, she booted me happily (and constantly) the store time from about 17 weeks.

rather common and usually moves. the disappointing part about an anterior placenta is you won't feel the baby move as much and those lovely 4D u/s pictures are rather poor quality. congratulations on the pregnancy (flowers)

Yes, I had it. over 90% move and if it's still low at your 20 weeks scan they will offer you another scan a few weeks after that.
Mine was still low then - in fact it barely moved at all. They also found I had vasa previa so there was no choice but c section. We lot quite a bit of blood as they had to go through the placenta and avoid the misplaced membranes/ cord but we were ok. Thank goodness for modern medicine!

If it continues to be low they will assess you and advise accordingly. Some women are told to rest at various levels. I was told to take it easy and you'll be told that any bleeding needs immediate urgent attention.

It's also not a given that you'll feel nothing. I was feeling movement at 18 weeks and he continued beating me up with increasing strength ;)

Thanks ladies. Yes I'd read that it could often move. I wasn't too concerned about it initially as I am not against having a c-section (and may prefer it...) but then I worried when I read that there could be an increased risk of haemorrhage... Hopefully it will move in its own time. Only 13 weeks at the moment so early days yet x

Mine is exactly the same and I'm 20 weeks. Midwife is confident it will move out the way by 32

I'm 20 weeks and still not felt anything. But midwife think it's will be another 3-4 weeks before I do. Fingers crossed it will be soon!
