Hope after 3 miscarriages??

I'm am just wondering if there could be a happy ending for me.

I have just experienced my 3rd miscarriage. I'm absolutely devastated. All 3 miscarriages have been different so I don't think there is an underline problem. At least I hope not.

I did everything I possibly could. The doctor advised my to take aspirin every day, so I did. I took pregnicare, the best possible vitamins. I eat really healthy, I don't drink and I have never smoked. So why is this happening to us?!?!

Is it possible for us to have a baby? I feel like giving up. How many times should I put myself through this? When is enough, enough? 😔

Snoopy - I'm so sorry you're going through this. I had 4 miscarriages over a period of 3 years but am now 16 weeks pregnant and all looks good.

We had tests after the 3rd but nothing was specifically found to be wrong so we carried on trying. There's lots of evidence that aspirin can help (I started taking it before conceiving this one but no idea if it made any difference).

There's no physical or medical reason to wait before trying again, perhaps just sensible to wait one cycle so you know your dates. Apart from that, whatever you feel is right for you. I started thinking of it as a numbers game i.e. the more you try, the more likely you are to have a success, and I knew that waiting would cause more anxiety (age was a factor for me) than just getting on with it, so we just got on with it.

Multiple miscarriage is such a hard, lonely, bleak thing to go through but the many positive stories here helped me carry on. So please believe that there can be a happy ending. I hope for one for you too. x

It's so totally shit isn't it?

I had dd1
Miscarriage
Miscarriage
Dd2
Miscarriage
Ds1
Ds2

Dd2 and ds1 were both conceived immediately after the mcs I didn't even have a period. I wasn't actively trying but we weren't stopping anything happening either.

I'm so sorry for what you're going through.

Can I ask why u need to take aspirin?? Just because this thins ur blood

BifsWif · 26/01/2016 18:30

That's exactly why you take it LouLou Smile.

Some women had problems with their blood being too thick, and this could be a cause of miscarriage. Low dose aspirin is often recommended to women who suffer recurrent miscarriage.

Also had three miscarriages. Can I suggest thyroid testing, as often the stress of a successful pregnancy can bring your thyroid function below that needed for carrying anot her baby. Ivf clinics typically look for tsh below 2 I think, which is well below what GPs generally regard as normal.

Thank you everyone for your advise. It is very helpful.
Loulou, the doctor told me it can help the blood flow between the baby and the placenta.
I'm in 2 minds whether to just try straight away or wait and see what the doctor says tomorrow. But I'm impatient!! 😁

I had 3 miscarriages... it was awful ( 5 weeks, 13 weeks, 6 weeks).
There was no explanation, no reason. I was about to investigate with my Dr and I feel pregnant again. I actually thought about having an abortion to avoid myself the pain of another loss, but I didn't ! And I now have the most beautiful 5 year old. I started trying for my 2nd a couple of years later and 2 weeks later I was pregnant and had another beautiful baby.
With hindsight I think it was just my body getting ready, it struggled to get there but now it is, its amazing and my children are perfect.
Nature is so unfair and doesn't offer any explanations sometimes. But the positive is you could just have been extremely unlucky to start with and end up having lots of children. Keep trying, sending you lots of courage X

I lost my first born at 23 weeks, and went on to have 2 early miscarriages at 6 weeks all in 9 months in 2012. 2014 I gave birth to a healthy little girl who is now 20months and I'm 38 weeks pregnant. I have had complications, but it's all been worth it.

I'm sorry for your losses OP xx

In my area if you've had 3 losses they'll refer you to do some blood tests to see if there's an underlying issue

In 2013 ( my first pregnancy ) I gave birth 16 weeks weeks early and he passed away 2 hours after being born. 10 weeks later I fell pregnant and miscarried at 8 weeks, 6 weeks later I fell pregnant and miscarried at 6 weeks.

A few months later I went to the doctors and I was reffered to the hospital for blood tests, the blood tests wernt for another 3 months and in that time I found out I was pregnant again

Had a 6 week scan because of the 3 losses where it was found I had PCOS so didn't need to go for the blood tests, fortunately for me that pregnancy stayed and I now have a 13 month old daughter

Don't know if it helped but I took a paracetamol every day with her. Was petrified through the whole pregnancy.

It might be worth asking for some blood test OP, I didn't have any symptons of PCOS apart from irregular periods. Now a year on I'm getting hairy and what not but that's a different story!

Good luck and I hope you get your much wanted baby soon

Hi Snoopy, I had three mc in a row and am now pg again, coming up to my third trimester and everything's looking good.
I pushed for a referral after the 3rd mc, gp was a bit reluctant as one of my mc was early on, 5 weeks, and I got the spiel about how some women wouldn't have even known they were pg at that point but I got so upset that the gp agreed to do bloods (clotting factors and others I can't remember) and refer to consultant. By the time my consultant appt came through I was pg again, early days. Nothing found in blood tests. The consultant didn't do any further testing but prescribed cyclogest pessaries to take until 12 weeks. There is strong evidence for prescribing cyclogest to anyone who's had recurrent miscarriage so its worth you pushing to see the consultant to ask about this. I dont know if the cyclogest helped but I believe I have what's called an 'unfussy uterus' as I seem to get pg easily.
I hope some of this is helpful, I felt absolutely awful when I was going through my mcs, it was a truly terrible time and my heart goes out to you Flowers

Snoopy27 · 27/01/2016 11:45

Thank you all for sharing your experiences.
I have been to the doctor today and he has referred me for blood tests so hopefully I will get some answers.
In the meantime though I'm not going to stop trying so fingers crossed! But what will be, will be.
