quite literally

have an enormous, truss-like belt from the midwife that will show beneath all of my clothes and some exercises from the physiotherapist that i fear won't take effect until after i give birth.

anyone got any other suggestions?

The only thing I found useful was a stretching exercise which my active birth teacher taught me and which I will try to describe!

Start on hands and knees with both hip width apart, bring your right foot up so that is in front of your left knee (with your right knee still pointing out). Slide your left knee back so that your left leg is out straight behind you and your right foot is under your left hip (so you are sort of lying on top of your bent right leg). Hold this position for a couple of mins and you will feel a really strong stretch through the joint. Come back onto all fours and repeat with the left leg. It feels like torture to start with but I found (and am finding again) that it really helps.(I never got to the corset stage though...)

Good luck!
