Do you think you'd be able to get by with just a sling for the first year?

Baby is due end of April. I'm trying to avoid getting a double buggy as my toddler will only be 2.3 when baby arrives and she is still buggy dependent when we are out of the house. We live in London and I don't drive.

Am I mad to think I'll be fine with baby in a sling all the time and toddler in our babyzen yoyo? Am I going to get all hot and bothered come summer?

No

I have an 19 month age gap and wouldn't have enjoyed trying to manage without my Phil and teds. For a month or so I used the sling (really comfy Caboo) and a buggy as dd started to hate the cocoon but wasn't ready for the chair bit of the buggy and it was a PITA. I found it tricky to deal with ds out and about with dd in the sling- stuff like nappy changes etc. Also me and dp have had a few blissful meals in cafes etc whilst both kids slept!!

You could manage but IMHO having the choice is better. We paid £60 for a second hand Phil and Teds on e bay.

I never bothered with a pushchair. I just used a wrap or an ergo. I had two emcs too. Didn't make any difference to using a sling.

Nope.

DS is 8 months and really heavy. I'm short and my poor knackered back/hips/pelvis can't take it.

I have done, twice.

At the end of the day it's not a tough task to buy a buggy if you feel like you need one

No one bats an eyelid if you do it the other way round (only get a buggy)

Different strokes for different folks

I used a stretchy wrap for a few months with my 1st and barely used a pram. 2nd time around Im planning on using the stretchy again as I felt a lot more 'in control' and my baby was comforted being close.
At about 6 months I switched to a tula SSC, and plan to do the same again this time!
