Do I need to say goodbye to my mini? Any mini drivers with prams out there?

I am delighted that I'm pregnant its 10 years since my son and I honestly never thought it would happen again. However I now have a dilemma, I'm not the most confident of drivers and after years of big cars I finally got myself a mini convertable (which I love and I can park)
But from what I've seen I've got no chance of fitting a pram/buggy in the boot or back seat.
Has anyone had a similar problem and found a solution. Or am I destined to get another big car. Any help appreciated Smile

I also recommend the easywalker mini, we got it last summer and my baby was born in October so have been using it since and couldn't be happier!! It's mini branded and I believe is designed to fit in a mini. It's also very sturdy, had a lovely leather handle rather than foam. It really is perfect.

It was about £750 for the whole package including car seat isofix and carry cot but it's half price now!!

The only negative is have about it is the shopping basket is tiny haha but that's it!

A friend of mine who has a mini has the uppababy and baby is in the front and she has to collapse a seat at the back.

CongratulationsSmile

Argh thank you so much for all the advice! I know what I'll be doing today. I am defo going to take the car to mothercare today to see what looks viable. But the mini pram sounds like a really good idea. My OH is convinced I need to swap cars. But I now have a little hope Smile

Ohh I'm so happy. I love the mini easy walker and I've found a review that confirms it fits into the boot of a convertable. I can't find any bad reviews. So I think that is going to be the one for us. I just need to road test.
Thanks everyone I've gone from being stressed to delighted Smile

I struggle with 2 kids in my Land Rover lol couldn't imagine having 2 babies in a mini! My sister had a mini and she's pregnant now, she's just brought a Peugot so it's a little bigger but more practical

fletchybear · 20/01/2016 13:09

Ha ha Saphwoodman, my OH agrees withy you. He thinks I am mad. But I've had a 4x4 and I used to struggle parking it. The amount of times I gave up trying to park Confused
My OH has a merc and its 5 door. I hate driving it. so all family day outs will be on his car with him driving SmileMy car is only really for nipping to shops/docs. If I do need to go anywhere I can borrow his. (He hasn't agreed yet)
With my mini car and mini pram I'll be the most confident person in the car park StarStar

My neighbour has two children under 2 and a mini [not a convertible though] It's their family car. They seem to manage fine but use some sort of Bugaboo pram with a sling.

You also need to see if you can get a car seat in and out of the car [without taking the roof off] if there aren't rear doors [saw another neighbour had to exchange a BMW coupe over that.
Put the drivers seat back far enough to drive said car if there's an isofix/car seat combination. They protrude massively depending on the model.

Alternatively you put a car seat in and have a spare for trips out in your husbands car. Grin

I can defo get car seat in and out of the back. I use one for my niece who I often look after. It isn't isofix so it's a bit of a pain but it's doable. My OH will have isofix in his car so that should be straightforward. My other child is 10. So he is in school (he walks to village school with his friends). My main worry was the pram, as the boot space is non existent. But now I know about the mini easy walker I'm a very happy bunny. I just wish I could order it now while the sale is on. (But it's too early and I'm superstitious) Smile

Joie litetrax buggy is suitable from birth and folds tiny. Fits in my tiny Toyota Aygo boot.

Gunting · 20/01/2016 19:03

I have a fiat 500 and a 3 month old.

It is a squeeze but entirely possible. I have a mothercare orb which folds up very compact and a maxi cosi car seat and we all fit in!

fletchybear · 21/01/2016 12:29

Update!! The mini easy didn't fit Confused
But the lovely lady in mothercare suggested the Quinny Extra and it fits with room to spare. I'll have to get my head around a 3 wheeler as it wasn't really what I wanted. But it's a def contender for my car. I have suggested to OH that I can get the mini extra for his car GrinGrin Thanks for all the help everyone. It's appreciated!

Look at the babyzen yoyo 0+. It's a 4 wheeler and will fold smaller than the quinny

Artandco · 21/01/2016 13:31

The new version fits a car seat also if needed

Hufflepuffin · 21/01/2016 13:34

Oh no! What sort of shape space do you have? I love the baby jogger zip and that takes a car seat too.

fletchybear · 21/01/2016 14:32

The boot really is rubbish. The opening is smaller than a standard mini. So although the mini easy walker prob would fit in the standard mini it won't go in mine :(
I'm defo going to look at the YoYo I think I would prefer 4 wheels 3 wheels is a bit too funky/modern for me.
Thanks guys X

Ohh that's a shame, the easywalker is such a lovely pram. I'm sure you'll find something that suits and you have time. Good luck Smile

I had my Bugaboo Bee and Maxi Cosi Cabriofix in my Audi TT for a year, issue was more all the other cr&p you have to carry around with a baby rather than the buggy or car seat... I actually was fine in the TT (that everyone told me I'd just "have" to get rid of...) for easily a year, and then I swapped it for an Evoque, but its only the 4 door issue that made the difference for me more than space...

fletchybear · 22/01/2016 11:25

I'll have to look at the bugaboo bee. I've heard lots of great things about it. But again it really is going to come down to what can fit in my boot. The good thing is OH car is huge. I'm a stay at home mum. So I'll only really use my car every now and then. If I do need to go anywhere significant, he will let me do a short term swap (I hope Smile) I only really use my car now to do me, me, me, things. And previous experience of a new born has taught me most of that is about to stop for at least 9months Smile
